One of our reviewers recently reviewed the Malloch's Seaweed Newman Roll Neck Jumper. Check out his thoughts on this modern contemporary version of the British submariner jumper here.

Gents,
please give me your input on the last 130.
I'm, wearing
- UK 7.5 with Tricker's 4497s (UK 7 4444 is a bit tight and short)
- UK 7.5 with C&J 325 (335 too wide)
- UK 7 / US 7.5 E with Alden Barrie
I'm looking at boots with the 130, so if it would wear not more generous than 4497s or 325, I would consider the same size as these lasts wear are pretty perfect with autumn and winter socks.
If I were looking for a 130-lasted shoe, 4497s and 325 would be a tad too generous (in length and width), while the Barrie in UK 7 / US 7.5 E is spot on.
(Lately I had no luck with a Carlos Santos boot on the last Z 234H/S in UK 7.5. It felt like a 4497s or 325 half a size too big, in fact it was much too wide and long, so much so that I couldn't even compensate their volume with superthick socks.
With these socks I'm fine in my Rannoch boot, which is made by Cheaney on the 12226 G last, which according to Cheaney is ever so slightly wider and longer than their 4436 G on which the Pennine is made and so little that according to Cheaney „... they will feel very much the same in size and fit.“.)
So, I would love if the 130 would be no bigger than 4497s or 325, but I have a little bit of leeway, if it was minimally tighter than these.
Thank you for listening! 🌞

The 130 in my wearing experience, is a very comfortable last because it is more roomier in the mid and fore sections of the foot. This has suited me since i find the 325 to be a bit constrained in the mid and fore part of the foot. (This comparison is based on both 130 and 325 lasts being worn in the same size). I would also say 130 is a bit more roomier than 4497.
In my experience, the 130 can sometimes run a bit big. In leather boots ive taken my usual size on 130 which allows for slightly thicker socks. But in suede longwing brogues on 130, ive had to go down by half size.
Hello
I use same size (10.5UK) in 130, 4497 and 325 lasts. Maybe 130 is a tad roomier, but I wouldn't size down, but each feet is a 3 dimension riddle.
I hope this helps.
Friends, thank you! 👊🏻🌞
Yeah, it's tricky, I know so well. I just had a lovely phone call with Glen from https://shoehealer.co.uk/ as he deals with Tricker's as well as Cheaney.
From his own experience with the 4444 he wears, he thinks I should stay with my size for the Elliott II R, which is the boot I'm thinking about.
But to make even more sure, he recommend to speak with Ann, who knows Tricker's or 4497s better. That's what I will do tomorrow.
I just ordered som Richmond R boots on this last so feeling quite confident they’ll fit now.The 130 in my wearing experience, is a very comfortable last because it is more roomier in the mid and fore sections of the foot. I understand that you like the style, I like it too, but isn't that model too similar to the C&J Coniston?
I would probably consider something else.
Hey-o! 🖖🏻
Thank you for thinking along! I'm with you on this would I consider the Black or Mahogany Elliott, because of the grain leather.
But I'm after the smooth calf Mocha one: https://www.cheaney.co.uk/elliott-ii-r-capped-derby-boot-in-mocha-calf-leather-p1078
That Mocha looks a little bit duller than the other Mocha shoes & boots, but according to Cheaney - I phoned with them too - it is the same leather. See their Mocha collection: https://www.cheaney.co.uk/mocha-t275
I am looking for a smooth (non-brogue) dark-brown boot, which is not as casual as my DBSG-Coniston and more 'town than country' and the Elliott looks like an halfway elegant but still solid, serious boot.
The Elliot is a very handsome and good looking boot. Catches attentionHey-o! 🖖🏻

That is some odd advice from Cheaney. I own both the Rannoch (size 8 as you know ) and the Pennine II in size 8.5 and the Rannoch is definately much, much wider.
Regarding your last 130 question, Cheaney has a description of their lastst on their website https://www.cheaney.co.uk/last-guide-i243
I own the Elliott (1st version, last 125) in mahogany grain and chestnut grain and can recommend them. They are great and I think they are more dressy than the C&J Coniston (also higher iirc).
Funnily enough I took this from the reply Cheaney send to you. 😁

Yep, I know that, but it's only an approach and just think of the statement regarding the lasts Rannoch vs Pennine. 😂
Yeah! 🤘🏻 And I like taller boots, love the height of the Burford.
@DorianGreen @Fenners81 @JUAN MANUEL @Humpty_Dumpty_Rises @Schweino :
I had a wonderful conversation with Ann Frick from The Shoe Healer and ordered the Mocha Elliott II R.
In my typcial boot size UK 7.5. In short, she understood that I wanted a last similar to the 325 (which she knows) and 4497s (which she sells a lot) and if at all that it was allowed to be ever so slightly sleeker, but by no means wider. Also she knows the Barrie last.
In her opinion the 130 is rather a little bit sleeker than these, but still 'generous'.
They don't have them in stock, it will take a few days longer before I will know, but all in all including yesterday's phone with her colleague Glen, I am confident now, that I will get lucky. 🍀
Thx, all! 🌞
Cheers @bemk
Glen is very helpful when you speak to him. Ann is also very helpful and swift in responding. A great unit/team there at the Shoe Healer.
I'll be interested to hearing how the 130 went for you Bemk. I think it's a nice last. Has a old school/victorian appeal to it.
With all this talk, im being tempted to order something in 130. For now, my current maintained mental status (as of lunch time) can be described as "in control of temptation"
