Yeah, a couple years back, I was finding and flipping old original Gant Rugger oxfords (locker loop, button down collar, union stamp on front, etc). The head of Mens design at the time, (maybe Christopher Bastin, not Michael Bastian) was snatching them up the moment the listing went live.

I think I may have read about this already, but can you guys confirm that we are no longer able to charge a re-stocking fee on returns? This may be the end for me....

I'm still charging 15% with no problem.

EDIT: "No problem" is not quite accurate. A couple of times, including recently, following the normal procedures did NOT automatically subtract the re-stocking fee. I called eBay, they had me do the refund via PayPal, subtracting my 15%. Then a week later I had to call them again when they thought I still hadn't done the refund. So yes, you can still do it, but there are occasional hurdles.

Ugh... If I have to start collecting sales tax for other states, it’ll kill my business. Hopefully EBay can handle that part of the mess if it comes to that.

I do this in Canada; as a registered business I'm required to charge sales tax. Ebay has a tax table that charges the right rate for each province. You just select to apply it. The customers pay it, and it appears as another line entry in the paypal statement. At the end of the year I add it up and send a cheque off to the government.

It does make some customers upset though, in Canada; any sale except by charitable organizations must collect tax...but people are used to buying used items personally or through charity thrifts, so sometimes they get upset.

It might make it more difficult for those selling under the table to hide though; if you collect money for the government, they're going to ensure they investigate who's selling to get it.

I have been expecting this. It's one of the main reasons that I moved much of my business from eBay to concentrate on local Facebook groups. I give up a little in profit. But, the reductions in headaches and taxes balance the scales. This will put a damper on online commerce.
