I tried the VW 10, 15, 20 and Rye last night. The 15 to me was the best while the 20 was okay. Not a big fan of the Rye.

just cracked a VW 12 from this year. Not good. Was never my favorite, but this is my first BT version and I am not impressed. 10 is way better.

The 15 over the last few years has always been my favorite also. A little better than the 20 and far superior to the 23, which is entirely over oaked in my opinion.

do you guys buy the VWs for investment to flip in a few years or do you actually drink this expensive hooch

I used to drink it. I didn't get a bottle this year or last though. At this point, as much as I'm ashamed to admit it, I'd probably flip it with the ridiculous prices it gets on the secondary market. If it was my favorite bourbon I'd keep it, but it's not, so I'd have to take the money.

well it is only expensive on the secondary market. you can get it for a whole lot cheaper if you buy from a good retail store

I got a bottle of the rye and I'm going to drink it, but I'd flip any of the others. I've had them all before and they're great, but not $1k+ great or even close.

Also I'd sell 'em ASAP, no reason real to wait. The markup is already absurd, and who knows, the trend might die out if you wait.

I have had all of them....I usually keep the 10 years (especially if I can buy then at $50 retail) and the rye if I can get at retail. The rest are fresh flips.

Exactly. I have open in my cabinet right now a rye, a 23, a 15 and a 10. I really don't like the 12, so thats an easy sell and teh 20 I have is a 2011 SW 20, so I'll eventually open that at some point. But who knows, maybe something awesome will come a long that I can get with it. FWIW, I only really "flipped" a couple of bottles. i got 3 20 year olds for buddies in my bourbon group at cost (higher than retail but lower than secondary) that I know didn't have access to them.

I did get my hands on some PvW 15 the other day… no bottle for myself, but enough to enjoy at a friend's place. :nodding:

This is a frustrating hobby......until it pays off. No btac or pappy for me but I just secured the following:
3 EH Taylor Barrel proof
1 Parkers heritage wheat
4 OWA 107
2 Elijah Craig barrel proof
2 Elmer t Lee

Very excited to finally score much of the stuff I was looking for.
