You could get a Barbour? With a zip in lining they can tackle the coldest weather you will get in Brighton and there is a barbour shop in Brighton.

I like dark brown pebble grain boots with a dainite sole in the winter. I wouldn't wear them with a suit (except perhaps a casual tweed one) but they will go with most other stuff and most UK shoe makes make one.
Thanks for a prompt response.
Could you share 1-2 examples / links from Barbour?
i can see a no of jackets like wax, quilted, parkas etc and sleeveless gilets and liners?

Bedale and Beufort are the two classics, both are waterproof enough for walking around town on a rainy day (but not as waterproof as a modern technical fabric). Bedale is shorter so it probably looks a bit smarter, beufort is longer so it will cover a suit/jacket and keep more of you dry. Both are compatible with their zip in liners. They make A LOT of other wax jackets some with integrated hoods and lining as well as the other types you have outlined.

I'd go into the store and see what you like.

Pebble grain is in theory more durable in rain but I think thats mostly nonsense! I just like them. Any dainite soled boot from a UK maker will keep you dry enough in town.

Best RTW suit options in London for £800-£1.5k. Just found out the casual wedding I am going to next Friday is not that casual and I will be sitting on a table with some business contacts.

Haven't bought a suit for ~10 years and none of them work any more.

Not Suit Supply, done with slim fit suits. Would prefer nothing too old manish either though. Looking at Anglo Italian but they are waiting on a delivery of suits which might not come in time.

I need to try on and buy this weekend to get it tailored in time!

All suggestions gratefully recieved.
Armoury/Ring Jacket I think hits that mark

Get a Bedale Wax and warm pile liner or even some other jacket to line it with.

I have two queries
location: Brighton, UK
Purpose: All purpose

# Jacket
Looking for a top layer for winters in UK?
I am a junior doctor and my work environment is semi formal ie usually odd jacket with smart trousers.

I have a new overcoat I got made in Loro Piana fabric however am realising its a little tough to manage in wet and windy weather.

I also had a burberry puffer jacket which got nicked recently hence i need to replace it.

Some of the options that come to my mind are:
1. Puffer jacket by Rab or North Face
2. Parka: eg by canada goose or similar
3. Some trench coat and layer it underneath with cardigan etc.

Is there a better way to manage UK winters which are not that cold but can be windy and wet.?

# Shoes for work
am also on the lookout for shoes to complement the above environment and attires.
in summers i usually wear C&J Crawford penny loafers almost on a daily basis somehow they don't sound right in winters.
i do have light brown Chelsea shoes from Cheney but the colour makes them look a little casual that go better with jeans rather than trousers.
Thinking on the lines of EG Galaway or Dovers.
happy to hear suggestions?
For shoes, a chocolate brown suede is a better, more sedate color option. Galway is better than Dover given it is a boot. I'd also look at a Vass chukka since they're 25% off right now and of similar quality.

Cavour is probably easier, else just buy some rando Gieves Hawks/Richard James it would be over priced but you’re in a pinch in terms of timing so…

Nothing is really not that slim fitting these days

Yeah at the moment my plan at the moment is basically to go to saville row and get the RTW suit which seems least like a rip off. I don't love it but the brick and mortar options for a good RTW suit don't seem great. It's cheap suits, overpriced designer suits or online.

Thanks for a succinct reply however just wondering why this suggestion as in a busy life isnt it a little cumbersome to have this as goto winter jacket with issues
- hoodie to attach or not attach
- get it rewaxed every season or two?

Isnt it convenient to have a canada goose kinda jacket which is fuss free?
What am i missing?
Are there any alternatives?
Any idea about norwegian rain products; they come with liners too?

Also, any thoughts on goto work shoes in winters which are smart and semi-formal?
Thanks,

Another good suggestion, they were on my list but it looks like, despite plans, they still don't have a physical shop and online in the timeline makes me nervous - I am between sizes/an awkward fit with sloped shoulders.

Still, I will take a look at their shipping times!

Edward Sexton might be out the comfort zone but not all of their RTW are so stylized

Redmayne also just launched RTW, but I assume you would run into same try on issue.

I would say here that first you need to figure out what style of jacket do you want and how do you really plan to wear it. Is a hood a must or not, what colour etc. I never wear a hood and if it is not super cold Bedale with lining can tackle it and I really love the style. If you want classic winter parka that is completely different topic then.

For winter jacket I go no fuss over traditional CM friendly, kind just because it’s easier so personally (ie lots of not SF friendly advice)

1. I hate layering with modern heating at least in NYC it’s either cold outside or hot inside. I don’t want to go in, take off multiple layer (especially sweater) and re do again going outside

2. Synthetic outer is hassle free, don’t have to ever worry about re waxing it and they’re hard to kill… my old RLBL from 2009 is still kicking just fine

3. Hood is a must for me, if I don’t need beanies for the weather then it’s one less thing to carry

So this definitely leads to Canada Goose type of thing…

On shoes get some Chelsea if you’re lazy about it, else infinite dress boots to country boots option (and I would be perfectly fine to stay in CJ without going to EG pricing)

Ps if at end of the day Brighton beach isn’t that cold in winter then maybe just whatever you want (and you don’t mind the hassle so don’t need my one outer approach), only been there in late summer/early fall many years ago likes the place a lot

Hi all,

I recently bought 2 suits for €30 including shipping, at first glance the buttonholes seemed hand stitched so I straight up bought them as the price was extremely low.

Now that I received the suits, I wondered what brand these suits are. I was searching for mariano napoli but I can not find anything except Rubinacci. I have not seen rubinacci suits with this label before.

Can anyone tell me if this is simply an old Mariano Rubinacci suit? And if not, if they are familiar with this brand?

Thanks for the help!
