^^ I've never used mine, mostly because I haven't seen the stars in about 2 years.

There has been a very bright star in the sky for the last few nights. Used the app to determine it was Jupiter.

Well played.

It's like why I can't use a stud finder. Always points at me.

I was wondering why my Desire Z was eating battery like I eat bacon and until today: Wifi. I was under the impression that if you weren't in range of a wifi connection that you had previously set up, it would only occasionally search and shut off immediately (at least that's what I understood about Froyo) and consume little power.

So with that in mind I leave wifi on, go to work and I would literally be sitting at 60 per cent power by noon (no wifi at work) -- just five hours later. That's a lot of juice for something to consume when not making phone calls.

I happened to install a battery monitor widget on Sunday and just shut off wifi for the hell of it. End result? Come home from work with 79 per cent power. Lesson learned.

They specifically mention that in the article.

I wonder if it's HSPA+ ?(T-Mobile's flavor of FauxG)
The article doesn't say. I'd assume that if it did, it would have mentioned 4G.

Edit: Nope.

sadly no, HSPA 7.2 just like the N1. In practice, I have never managed to max out the download speed on the N1 so I imagine the NS will be more limited by the bandwidth available on the network then by its chipset.

Yeah, that's kind of why I was hoping it was a FauxG phone. Hardly anyone is on the T-Mob HSPA+ network right now.

Much as I love Android, I have serious doubts about the Nexus S. I had a Samsung Galaxy S and I don't think I've ever been so bitter about a phone before. A lot of things on it seemed very poorly thought out and poorly implemented. On an HTC Desire Z now and have never been happier with a phone.

On a related note, I've been looking into getting an Android tablet. Looked at the Viewsonic G Pad and the Archos 101. Saw the Archos in person and the screen, though big, was pretty lousy. It's sad to think the iPad is the only game in town.
