"used to"?ย  What moved you away from them?

They were one of a few US shoe companies that effectively sold their name to products no longer made in the US with inferior leathers and craftsmanship.

Agreed. The pressures in the shoe industry and changing styles forced most of the US makers out of business or off shore in a chase to the bottom on quality. The vintage Florsheims, Nettletons, Hanovers, etc, made in the US can be a high quality shoe. I invite those who have not been there to check out the vintage shoe appreciation thread. Some beautiful stuff over there.

So they got in a couple customer returns in Maine and I was going to be out that way anyway so I figured id check them out. One was supposed to be the 1776 that mr. orange likes so much. To my surprise, they had the the spiked golf cleats in place of danite. Hell of a reason for 2nds - no mention of that on the shoebank site. In fact, a little troubling - does that mean you could order something from the cac and end up with a golf shoe? Anyone ever have that happen? I've bought a lot and have never run into tho before.

I get that is why you wouldn't buy more of them. I'd never buy them in their current state, but I really love my vintage shell Imperials. Looking forward to keeping them for a long time...

Cheers during the break folks!

Haven't had that problem but could see how it would happen

That's what's so disconcerting about Florsheim. They once made great shoes and had a great reputation for service, which they effectively sold out for a quick profit.

I had to take our cat to the vet this morning for a check-up on her eye.

I have never seen a clearer sign from God that someone should take up golf.
