I'm curious to see what people will suggest.  We get that question a lot and I don't have a better answer than Net-a-Porter right now...
Yes.  MTO, MTM or bespoke only

The difference, as you well know, is that n-a-p and it's brick and morter equivalents stock primarily designer house brands that are priced by name and cut corners with materials and constuction. And that doesn't even take into account the matters of taste. It seems possible that someone could make a list of brands that represents quality, value and good taste, but it's not something I could contribute to since the only brands I would mention are womens line of mens brands like FWK and Schneider.Plus, women don't think/shop the way guys do. They really don't want a backstory as far as I can tell, which is fine.

We came across Net-a-Porter during my research, but found their selection overwhelming: somewhat akin to walking into the Met and not knowing where to start.

I agree - that's how Mr Porter is too. Who knew that there were over 400 designers for men worth carrying in a "curated, edited, independent" (their words) shop?

Shopping on NAP requires some time investment in exploring and maybe zeroing in on some designers she may prefer

So i noticed i have a small separation between my bunnies. not sure if its always been that way from day one but it looks like they missed that panel of stitching.

has anyone else had this issue and is it an easy fix? can i just go to a local tailor/dry cleaner and get it fixed or do i need to find some fur expert to put the bunnies back together?

Never seen this issue before but the pelts are quite thin so I would imagine that you may not need a leather or fur specialist to restitch that seam.

We'll give that a shot, but I suspect that she'll lose interest after just getting through Page 3 of 7 of 193 midi skirts.

hmmm...some thoughts:

2. as mentioned before, some of the Eidos, Sage de Cret, Niche, Blue Blue, Inis Mean, Frank Leder can all be 'subverted' for woman's clothing. In fact a lot of it can be unisex, if marketed that way.
3. I don't really see an equivalent in womenswear to "thoughtful curation of artisanal makers with close attention paid to quality, craftsmanship, and provenance." Women's classic clothing (if there is such a thing) is more integrated with streetwear or smart casualwear than men's. Also it seems that design is given much more importance than provenance and craftsmanship.

I do think that there is a market need for a women's equivalent to NMWA, based on the fact that people are asking @gdl203 that question.

I don't know if the people asking are mostly women-or men shopping for their SOs-and maybe it doesn't matter; however, I do think that there's need for a retailer that can meet the demands of women (and men) looking for well-crafted and well-curated ensembles of womenswear.

Women may not think/shop the way men do, but from my n=1 experience, they are starved for a retailer whose taste they can trust. And that trust is engendered through education about the process(and the actual curating) of an ensemble of well-crafted and quality womenswear staples.

I don't know what those staple pieces are-I suspect that a list will include a little black dress, a grey knee-length/midi skirt, a cardigan, a shirt dress-but it'll also be perfectly fine to stock the women's line of the brands you mentioned above.

You'll be surprised to see how difficult it can be to find a trusted retailer that stocks the above items.

Folks,

Is there a women's equivalent of NMWA?

My wife appreciates that more than 70% of the items in my wardrobe come from NMWA and is probably a little envious that I've found a go-to retailer for most of my menswear needs. She's wondered if there are similar options for womenswear that share the same thoughtful curation of artisanal makers with close attention paid to quality, craftsmanship, and provenance.

I've searched online and have come up with the following:
Mill Mercantile
La Garconne

However, I have little experience with women's fashion and wanted to see if this group had any other suggestions.

P.S. I know this sounds strange, but my wife does NOT enjoy shopping. In fact, it stresses her out. That's probably why she's asking. I on the other hand...

My wife also hates shopping, so she's been using StitchFix to augment her wardrobe and has been happy enough with them. The quality isn't amazing but it takes away most of the indecision and frustration by limiting her choices.

my sister-in-law used to use stitchfix and never once bought anything and found it disappointing; she switched to the now-Nordstrom-owned Trunk Club and can't say enough good about it.
