Yes it's basically a smoking jacket. It's just made up with more conventional cloth. I will also caution that it does not look good if you have say hypothetically gained about 20 pounds over the last year. Smoking jackets that are tied at the waist only look good if you are thin, in my humble...- Big A

Actually started off with a 1950's ivory linen dinner jacket but I've been working out like crazy to try and shed Covid weight and I ripped out of the back.... Good thing I had a spare. Anyway the burgundy velvet shoes made more sense before I had to swap jackets- Big A

The only thing I disagree with here is the vents. I've always gotten vents my dinner jackets, makes them easier to wear in my opinion. As pointed out above patent oxfords are pretty cheap at the moment (This is a classic "do as I say not as I do" moment, since about two posts above I'm wearing...- Big A

Excuse the slippers, they were comfortable and my black patent shoes were not. This was for a kind of wine dinner thing that was in a dark dining room located behind a hidden bookcase door in a basement, so I was pretty convinced that no one would be able to tell the shoes were red and not black...- Big A

Nicer watch but not something you could trade for a car and a bunch of gasoline in the Balkans or Africa or something like that. I like watches that have worldwide recognized intrinsic value, which pretty much means Rolex and Patek- Big A
