I just came across TSPTR for the first time - late, by the looks of it, but there did not seem to be a thread here.

The label seems to have an interesting story. It is named after the design principles of an architect who I confess I had not heard of. (That's American modernist Louis Sullivan's Truth, Symmetry, Pleasure, Taste and Recognition, fact fans.)

Their stock in trade is basically cult visual culture, I would say. Typical collections occupy a niche somewhere between official merchandise, homage and reproduction. For example, T-shirt graphics incorporate stills from David Cronenberg's Videodrome. One sweatshirt reproduces a print handed out to Apocalypse Now location crew.

Notably, for the last 10 years TSPTR has been licensed to produce Peanuts collections. In fact, reading one interview with the founder, it turns out they started the label after they were approached by Charles Schultz's family. Interestingly, TSPTR decided to reproduce official Peanuts merchandise made in the 60s by a San Fransisco outfit called Determined Productions. The designs are very cool, as Determined incorporated Schultz's art into their own graphically savvy aesthetic, and printed on some pretty rad colours.

TSPTR also have nice sidelines in ceramics, jewellery and pin badges among other things. I particularly like the reproductions of homewares from Hornsea, a British pottery that used to specialise in folklorish and geometric designs.

What is more, the company seems sincere about ethical transparency. The sweats and tee are made in Portugal using organic cotton.

Anyway, I had not heard of the label until I saw a Peanuts sweatshirt for sale (second hand) and it piqued my interest. As long as I can remember (since I was a young kid) I have had a mirror with the same catchphrase on it. I never knew Woodstock was allergic to mornings too, that makes three of us.

The sweatshirt turned out to be TSPTR, obviously. Anyway it made me curious about the whole Peanuts thing. Some light googling turned up a two-part deep dive at Heddels, of all places. Reading about Schultz and seeing a few comics (for the first time in decades) made me feel Peanuts is probably pretty fuckin' cool. And I really like the angle TSPTR took in developing their collaboration. Buzz Rickson's have collaborated with Peanuts as well, but their merch doesn't grab me so much.

Well, by the time I was sold on the sweatshirt - which is sold out in every size except XXL - someone else had bought it! AAUGH! as they say.

Does anyone, by some chance, have a "mornings" sweatshirt in brown (with the pink print) that they would like to part with? I could go for a medium or a large.

Edit: I forgot to say, for anyone else interested, TSPTR told me they are coming out with new colours featuring this design at the end of the month.

And to clarify, they still have a few sizes left in red and yellow as well as lots of other Peanuts designs.
