My understanding is that the cut is identical between the 100 series and their Ring Jacket counterparts, so unless you're a stickler for handwork, I don't see much point in going for the 100 series. I suppose it makes much more sense if you're planning to go for MTM either way, as opposed to simply RTW.

Thanks! Basically what brought me to it was the fact that this appears to be the only midnight tuxedo on offer which is a little frustrating but also makes sense since I’m sure a tuxedo isn’t a high volume item.

are you sure? 100 series is more structured than RJ right (at least vs model 3, no idea about vs model 1 or model 4 for tuxedo which I was told basically a peak lapel model 1)

edit: oh are you saying RJ Model 1 corresponds to 101 in cut, RJ Model 3 corresponds to 103 in cut? rest is more less just handwork, then totally possible but I have no idea

Can anyone speak to the fit and quality on their more recent shoe offerings? The Gilman and Berkeley are both versions of what I've been looking for, but my foot tends a bit wider with a higher arch (oxfords can therefore be an issue).

Hard to tell fit from the photos obviously, so any insight would be appreciated.

I have the Gilmans in brown suede. Bought recently so I've only worn them once so far but found them pretty comfortable out of the box. Happy to send you any specific pictures if that'll help you.

They are a bit more conservative in styling, and feature not only more handwork in the detailing, but throughout the entire garment. They are also made for us in northern Italy, compared to the RJ tailoring coming from Japan.

Also a more milanese style if I recall correctly. Didn’t dembech help you develop the pattern for the mtm?

As for 3 vs 103, I distinctly remember 103 having higher buttoning stance and overall shorter jacket. I personally prefer 3's length, even though when I bought my first Model 3 it felt weird because it was around 2cm longer than my previous jackets from other makers. I guess my taste evolved.

Fits true to size, very light weight and comes unblocked with an open crown, compatible with all seasons, but especially for the chillier occasions even with rain or snow.

Thank you for the reply. The pictures online are pretty good. I'm wondering about their claim that they have a wider forefoot for comfort.

My foot is a US 'D' width, but it's verging on an 'E' depending on the make of the shoe.

Why long sleeve? I’d go for short sleeve, personally. It’d be great when a jacket is too formal (or hot) but you don’t want to be in a tshirt.

I'm already sorted for smart short sleeve polos. I need something to be able to wear all year round, underneath a jacket, for a slightly dressed down navy on navy look.

I own a bunch of the long sleeved polos, in pique and the cotton linen mix. Most RTW shirts don’t fit me too well, but these ones seem to have slightly longer sleeves than average, so they’re long enough for my arms. I usually wash them in cold water and then line dry them, no shrinkage issues in any of my shirts. I do prefer the spread collar versions to the button down collar one you linked though, in my experience the button down collar’s roll is merely okay.
