9th, did you get doinked with duties (assuming your order cleared $800 if tailoring) on your SC? I've honestly never gotten hit with duties from overseas, if memory serves. I am very curious to try out their tailoring for a suit, but the idea of getting hammered with a 35% fee kills much of that curiosity from my side.

The black gent always looks so effing cool in his getups.

Edit: posting one since none of the others populated.

This is worrying. I've just asked a lawyer friend of mine (who also lurks around here - hi mate!) and this may just mean they didn't pay a creditor which has led to an insolvency practitioner being appointed until the creditor is paid. Apparently, they will have to publish a report eventually which will go up on Companies House so we'll know what's going on but the deadlines for that are quite long.

They're still sending a newsletter and posting on Instagram though. And the shop is always full of people...

My friend is planning to do a mtm suit within next 2 months for his wedding the summer

Reckon still a good to go ?

Been to the shop recently and it’s busy as heck and seems like they are ordering new stock and sizes when I asked them for something…

Laid out here (Statement of administrator's proposal, 57p PDF 20 Dec 2023). A dispute with a prior director Ben Hunt (removed by the legal firm/insolvency group in late Nov due to ongoing behaviors including "baseless allegations and statements of a libellous nature" which have been "extremely disruptive" to the interim administrators), and subsequent financial challenges leading to a full review, an insolvency finding, and the company being placed into administration with Jake and his wife's input. Hunt says he's owed £160k+, among other things. Jake's father-in-law took over company earlier this month after a period of occupying a license to trade as the company, but there are ongoing disputes with the prior director and concerns about meeting additional debts.

This all sounds quite stressful and protracted for Jake's young family and the guys at the shop. I hope they can sort it out and manage to disentangle from what even the linked legal paperwork seems to suggest is a pretty acrimonious situation.

Sending them well wishes. I'll probably take another look through their current offerings and see what makes sense in the next several months. I've been enjoying seeing some of their recent releases and think their house style and palette really occupies a nice niche. Don't want to lose them.

Merry Christmas, all.

Any updates to this? Is it still safe to order from them? Any update would be greatly appreciated!

I’ve spoken to a few people, heard some opinions and I think it boils down to:

- The old company is under administration, about to be dissolved, mostly to get rid of the Ben Hunt guy
- New company has been set up/financed by Jake’s father-in-law who has already acquired or will acquire most of the good assets (inventory, lease etc), brand name, goodwill etc. from the old company.
- The proceeds from those assets will go to partially pay off the creditors of the old company
- Having these assets, the new company can continue to face customers as Anglo-Italian and customers shouldn’t feel any difference while the old entity goes into dissolution

As an aside, I was in the shop a couple of times over the last several weeks and it looks decently busy, with no whiff of any impending doom.

I’m not a lawyer or an insolvency specialist so I may be getting some of this wrong, but it looks to me that they will continue to exist and should be reasonably safe to order from them.

Have a friend who called the administrators to clarify as he is looking to get a bespoke suit done. They confirmed exactly what te0o summarised above.
They said theres no risk in ordering from them which is great news!

I ordered some knitwear a few weeks ago and it was delivered lightning quick to the US with no issues, nicely packaged at that. Shame to read what's happening above but wouldn't hesitate to order anything given my recent experience.

No duties (assuming you cleared whatever the threshold is nowadays...800)?

Does anybody have IRL photos of their tailoring? Read Simon Crompton’s review, and it didn’t come off as very enthusiastic.

The new loafers with Crockett & Jones are quite nice! https://angloitalian.com/products/crockett-jones-unley-loafer-brown-suede-city-sole

Sadly, potentially having to pay for international returns means probably a no go for me. But if you're in the UK and looking for a loafer that you can dress up/down - this seems like a great option.
I saw these and thought the same exact thing. Basically a better made and slightly more elegant (but still able to wear with jeans and chinos) version of an Alden lhs. I really don’t want to deal ordering and returning back to London either, so won’t be buying. If I was local I would’ve already been to the store to try them on.

Aldens in my opinion are still a lot more casual than these and works a lot better with jeans etc. These are still more on the dressy side for my taste.

Have spoken to Jake about this and also looked into the papers and I see no issues. They have never had post Christmas sales so I can’t see that being an indicator of anything.

Had a bespoke blazer made in their hopsack last year and it is excellent.
