If there are any veterans, active duty, or first responders, GovX sells the 1,000 Mile for $279. They have all sizes in brown, #8, and roughout. They always have some kind of coupon going so you can often get them slightly cheaper than that.

I also find they have the best prices on Darn Tough socks.

Bumping this old thread to thank all who contributed to it. My son in college was just hired to work at a restaurant so I ordered for him a pair of the Wolverine 1000 Mile boots with wedge sole. This will be his first pair of quality Made In USA footwear and I am hopeful he likes them enough to wear often rather than the sneakers and, or, boat shoes he wore throughout high school.

Here is a photo of the 1000 Mile wedge sole boot I purchased for my 20 year old son. He is home from college for a few days so I had Wolverine send pairs of three sizes of the same boot, 10.5, 11, and 11.5. The 10.5 seemed to be the best fit.
