hell no that's where i work my magic, i tell you when you fight two or three people at once, when you get one to completely pass out the other two don't are not about to jump in there. Once i got into it with three cholos i knocked out one in about 5 seconds with two hits to the chin/jaw the others took off. That's the way street fights go.

Any martial art that you can train in a live manner will do you some good. Sambo, old-school Judo (kodokan, precursor to bjj), boxing, Kyukushin (sp?) karate, pretty much anywhere you can go full or almost full speed & strength will give you skill and at the same time help to minimize the adrenaline dump you'd experience in an actual fight.

Sambo yeah, Krav Maga no.

Muay Thai and BJJ are by far the most important but in reality none are effective when you bring in circumstances like multiple opponents. And this is from a bjj brown belt and lots of muay thai guy.

blind rage won't get you **** but out of breath. Martial arts is about self control for one thing, i fought a guy one time that i thought karate was stupid and got ****** whipped

Some sort of baton, or any heavy bludgoning weapon is good for defending yourself from your average crack-infused-mugger. Good enough to get a few shots in and stun him, then run away. Realistically, if you pull a gun or a knife out on him it's likely he won't survive. That isn't good for him, or you. But bringing your fists into something where you're most likely to be able to carry some sort of weapon would be bordering on insane given most criminals at the very least have a pocketknife.

Aikido ftw! My father is a black belt, a high level, I forgot the number. But he has been able to implement its teachings to his work in the inner-cities to teach teens self-defense and a way to spiritually release anger and emotions. For those of you in medicine if you ever went to a Robert Wood Johnson convention, you should have seen him demonstrate his teachings.

This is the genius of craplatsu-fu. You always have a weapon and/or ammunition, but you can conceal it.

+1 That's been my self-defense philosophy for years.

If some dude's trying to mug me, I'll just scrape a hand-full of **** from ****** and try to smear it on their face. Even the most hardened gangsta don't want **** on their lip.

I did aikido for seven years (on and off) and while it's beautiful to watch/perform it's pretty much useless for SD in the real world because of how people train in it.

Some guy who did Aikido came to my BJJ club once wearing that weird gown thing. He had been doing it for like 10 years and I pretty much murdered him with my ground game and I was only a blue belt, and his strange gi ended up getting all torn up. Cool that it can do what you said, but not viable in reality.
