Gorky Park such a great film pity they never made its follow up novel Polar Star into a film…great series of novels as well

On the flight home from Rome:

Deadpool & Wolverine

Some fun bits, especially the cameos that linked every damn Marvel movie into the MCU, and the running “fu(k you Fox” business was great, but the weakest of the franchise.

Furious: A Mad Max Saga

Surprisingly awesome follow up. Fury Road was amazing, and I did not expect to like Furiosa as much as I did. Another one with great nods to other films in the franchise, but a better movie than D&W.

Man the Wasteland is one white place. What’s up with that?

Breathe

Indy post-apocalyptic thriller that explicitly tries to balance out the unbearable whiteness of Hollywood. Loaded with homages to prominent Black intellectuals and artists. Crap CGI and huge plot holes almost sink it but the acting carries the day. Excellent performances from almost all the players, including a surprisingly effective Milla Jovovich.

I don’t understand the love for Deadpool & Wolverine. It had a lot of fun moments but felt like pure pandering to people who like the Fox mutant stuff. Don't get me wrong Fox did a few good movies but we really need to move on from it.

Now Jackman is signed up for a few more films? Can we not start fresh with mutants in the MCU? I worry that Disney has decided to go all in on nostalgia bait.

The fact the movie made a billion means we will see him in the roll until he’s gone bald and wears depends.

He’s been a great Wolverine but I’d like to see a fresh take in the roll.

Eh. Wonder Woman is decent, the rest mostly suck. Marvel notches a few great movies and a bunch of decent ones along with the dreck.

The DCAU is really well done except for the Tomorrowverse stuff. Really felt like WB cut the Tomorrowverse budget and told them to wrap it up before they got going

His divorce was probably expensive, and doing Broadway doesn't cover the bills. A man wants to get paid.

Still great film after so many years rewatching if not better a second time around. The scene when they first meet at dinner 😍

Batman & Joker are better than every MCU movie I've seen. Granted, I might be missing a few.
Ah, fair point, the Batman franchise has produced many excellent movies, even some of the best superhero movies full stop. I was thinking of the recent movies that started with Wonder Woman.
