It's annual closet cleaning time, and making decisions on things I have barely worn over the last year.

This jacket is smooth worsted wool. The opposite of a casual, textured coat that would pair with casual khakis.
Most dress pants are grey. However, shades of grey on grey is very tricky, and can look like a mismatched suit.
With navy dress pants, a grey jacket completes the "security guard" look. Awful.
The only other thing I can think of is blue jeans. But, I'm not a fan of the "suit coat and jeans" mismatch of style and texture.

There is a lesson here.
I bought this jacket so focused on achieving a great fit, that I didn't even think what I'd wear it with.
As a result, I have never worn it, b/c it doesn't go with anything in my closet.

Do you own a grey sport coat? If so, what kind of pants do you wear it with? Pictures?

That is a tricky color/fabric for an odd jacket.

I think very dark gray, nearly charcoal trousers would work well. And if you wanted to be a bit more adventurous even very dark purple/burgundy/eggplant colors might work.

Hard to tell from pictures - but if it's a 'warm' gray as it appears in the close up you might even find that it works ok with some dark browns.

Eek, tricky. I own a few grey jackets, but all are 1) textured and 2) light grey. I pair them with charcoal slacks or sometimes with a pair of deep olive green slacks. IMHO that particular shade of grey is just dark enough to make charcoal problematic and the worsted wool is rough. That particular coat I'd wear with indigo jeans and...I can't think of anything else. Sorry.

Thank you.
Yes, wearing this with black pants can work. I would offset that with a colorful shirt and tie combo.

Can you post a photo of a "warm" grey jacket?

Navy.
Duh.
Edit: To be more helpful. I suggest getting some Dockers Alpha Khaki in olive and blue.

Olive could work, but olive green has been out of style since the 1990s.
I don't think they even sell them anymore outside of Walmart.
Same with green cords. Last time they were in fashion was during the pleated pants craze.
Cords are much too casual for a worsted wool coat.  Major clashing of textures.

Blue pants would complete the awful "security guard" look.

I don't really care about fashion. It works great for casual in the fall.

Cream or winter white trousers and a pink shirt. Would work in Spring/Summer in most places.

Thanks. I have worn this with a lavender shirt, and that works. Yes, white pants would work.
It's weird to think of this grey being relegated to a springtime look.

Don't really see this as a hard to pair item. Would work with navy, olive and light beige trousers if you want to be adventurous.

Hi there,
I have a grey blazer very similar to the one that you have. I have tried my jacket with few different pants. And I must admit this colour is really challenging to use as a odd jacket.

1. Black pants- For me its a "No" . Really light grey looks nice with really light grey . But this grey sort of mid grey and didnt quite like the look.
2. Blue pants - Trust me I have tried this once and couldn't wait till end of the day so I can come home and take off my pants !
3. Dark Charcoal - I have used this combo one with my jacket. Even I was confused few times if I was wearing a mismatched suit !

Lastly I have paired this jacket with a pair of very light grey pants. And it worked. This fabric is thick and flaked.

If you find yourself wearing the wrong color pants, you could always pop into CVS and cover the ones you're wearing with cloth tape, amirite?
