Jensen, thanks for posting your ensembles.
The blue pants still risk coming off as a security guard.
So, what remains is very light pants, either khakis or light grey.
I will give this a whirl, but worsted wool does not work with cotton khakis.
So, I am not even sure I have a pair of light pants that are smooth wool.

You're welcome. Mine is a summer weight wool jacket, hence I paired it with cotton pants. Since it is still quite warm where I live, my heavier woolens are in the back of the closet and I did not feel like digging last night.

Yours being a worsted wool, you can pair it with beige or navy cords.

With Sulka light taupe wool pants.

Cream/stone are my favourite pairing, but there are plenty of other options. The choice also depends on the season (green or rust cord/moleskin in winter, blue cotton in summer, etc.). I wouldn't care about this or that colour being out of fashion (and no, I've never worn square-toed shoes, and always worn pleated trousers, though not exclusively).
