I'm not sure myself, but wouldn't it have been more fitting to say "Gregory Peck" gray? Maybe it's just me.

Baroni suits are some kind of in-joke over at AA. I think everytime a sale is made, there is some hearty laughing, a couple of "sucker" and pats on the back by some of those on AA.

$300 can get you RL Blue Label, made by Corneliani, or some Brooks offerings, or JPress, if you are patient. I'd get those before this.

Search the forums for "Baroni" and "Wizard of Aahs" (who also sells them). A lot of ink has been spilled on this subject.

I dont' know about this being a joke on AAAC, but from what I gathered, it's one hell of a suit for $250 (the price extended to AAAC members including shipping).

I actually recommended a friend on a limited budget to buy a couple of these as workhorse suits, which he is in need of now. Better than sending him to Macys or JAB or even Mens Werehouse, where he was initally going to go.

And that's the key point...for the money, these suits beat out almost anything you can find at the department stores, MW, etc. I have several of these suits and they really are nice: well made, hold up well, etc.. Without serious scrutiny, it's tough to tell the difference between these and my better suits. I wear a suit everyday (personal preference) and these are perfect for that.

The "joke" was the seller's ebay listings that say things like, "cut like a Canali, Isaia, Zegna, etc.", in order to generate a hit on his items during searches. He doesn't say it is a Canali, Isaia, Zegna, or even that it is as high a quality as those. He just says it fits like one. A few AAAC members really gave him grief about that saying it was misleading. Once I had my tailor fit the suit...it does fit just like an Isaia that I also own. What's the big deal?

My tailor had nothing but good things to say about the construction (full canvas), nice details (internal breast pocket both sides, pen pocket and cell phone pocket on the left side). The lapels roll nicely and the fit is great.

I really don't understand why he gets so much grief. I put my suits through a lot wearing them everyday and these have held up very, very well. I'd rather buy 3-4 of the Baroni's vs. 1 Isaia, Canali, etc., for my everyday use. I just wish he had more flat front pant options! For $250 (china made ones) or $340 (Italy made), it's a decent investment.

I don't wear them myself but a close friend has a clothing store in the stockbroker/legal end of town and imports them by the rackful. These guys snap them up as fast as they come in - and they are decent value for the price. I'm not sure who the joke's on but it certainly isn't my friend.

They are great suits for the price, you would be fine. Who wants to buy one to to cut up to verify the construction?

Can someone describe the Baroni's fit to me? I usually wear a size 38 jacket. Will a size 38 Baroni work for me? I'm a little concerned the suit will fit large in the shoulders because the shoulder-to-shoulder measurement for a 38R is 19". That just seems big to me. Should I be worried?

E-mail the Wizard. I hear he has great customer service and would be willing to send you two sizes and take back the one that doesn't fit, so long as it is sent back within a certain short period of time.

Spectre, what's the store? I've been very curious to check one out myself ever since I saw the review on AAAC. PM me if you prefer.

Cheers

It's Wizard of Aaahs.

Actually, AAAC including A himself have been very complementary about these suits.

so are they better than Canali or Corellani? Are Baroni suits canvassed? The first time I saw these I tought they were knock off of Brioni. For my money, I would spend 50 dollar or so more and buy a Canali or Corellani suits on sale around 350 - 400 range.
