finished Blood Meridian last week for the second time.

Now onto The Rest is Noise by Alex Ross of the New Yorker -- great overview and explanation of 20th century classical music.

Hi, I am new to this forum. This looks like an interesting thread to start posting.

I'm currently reading Blood Meridian too. Has any one read Cormac McCarthy's Child of God (Lester Ballard is somehow a prototype for Judge Holden character)?

I am currently reading these three books:

Blood Meridian - Cormac McCarthy
Cyclonopedia: Complicity with Anonymous Materials - Reza Negarestani
The Shadow at the Bottom of the World - Thomas Ligotti

Started reading Hard Times by Charles Dickens. I've not read any of his works before but I thought I'd start with this because it's pretty short.

100 pages into Junot Diaz's "The Brief Wonderful Life of Oscar Wao." Excellent thus far.

RIP DFW.

"The Book of Tells" is a nice bathroom skimmer in this genre.

Anyone read Denis Johnson's "Tree of Smoke"? Just saw it at the Strand.

I bought this book yesterday, finished it in about 4 sittings. My first Murakami, it is probably one of the best books I have ever read in my life time, and it was especially poignant with some of the emotions and experiences I've had in the recent year.

Midori reminds me of someone i once knew, although I never quite got to the level of relationship Toru did with her. I wonder how Reiko, Toru and Midori did end up...the ending was ambiguous but in a way that wasn't really satisfying; that's one minor complaint I would say I have about the book. The loose end it opened with never really tied up.
