West End Dost models were produced by a company called Juillard which was later named CORTEBERT WATCH CO. A major supplier of affordable watches. The mechanism was very sturdy and reliable, and the dial + cases were quite beautiful.
Roskopf were about basic but reliable movements . As the ones in DOST watches are still ticking after 120-130 years. Remarkable.
The Dost models were equipped with a ROSKOPF-type movement (also a West End brand) which were nearly indestructable . West End as owners of the ROSKOPF brand, the ROSKOPF movement was a major concept in the Swiss watch industry for the 20th century. 1 billion Roskopf-type watches have been produced from 1867 to the 1970s, when they were “killed” by the electronic (quartz) watches.
You can Google ROSKOPF / Georg-Friedrich Roskopf to get more information on this “simplified” watch mechanism.
