What is French binding?

French binding is the piping on the upper outer edge on a pair of boots. Alden uses it on their boots and Viberg uses it on their Derby boots and now it seems for the first time on the service boot. It looks pretty nice from the pics of the new Mocha shell boot.

I am surprised that the Mocha Shell hasn't sold out yet...I am soooo tempted...but my Kudus from DR haven't even arrived yet and I've decided to go down a half size from what I had been buying...plus, how many pairs of $1,000+ casual boots should a man own? I can't retire on my footwear collection...
