Made the Mason seersucker up as a shirt for a client. He brought it back and said it‘s too big and blousy.
His laundry didn’t know what seersucker was and pressed all the ridges flat. The shirt grew bigger.
No going back on that one.

Yeah, it’s between an Oxford cloth stripe shirting fabric and seersucker.
closer to the Oxford cloth shirting
Could be good if that’s what you’re going for. I investigated to find out if there were any linen seersucker options.

Out of curiosity, how do you press a seersucker suit? That’s a good question - is there any magic to it to not press out all of the seersucker wrinkles?

We use light weight 7 lb. steam irons. Use light pressure.
The heavier electric irons are 12 to 16 lb.
Wouldn’t use those on a seersucker

Maybe he was just being nice, but I've never heard that from Qemal – all he's said about it is how amazing he thinks the cloth is!

Also, I actually don't find it to be insanely thick, just super *dense* for a cashmere coating.
How many fittings do you usually need with Qemal? Does he need 100% payment upfront?

from the current Drapers Portofino Linen book
330g linen seersucker.
Piling on the summer utility.

Is seersucker less likely to wilt than plain weave all else equal?

I'm looking for suggestions for chocolate brown overcoating (20oz+). It can be plain or with subtle patterns - chocolate and navy comes to mind.

Thanks.
What is the cloth that Lemaire is using in this coat? It's what I'm looking for.

Fox Bros Exmoor Overcoating book has a chocolate twill, maybe reach out to them to see if they have lengths left over. They also have a more heathered brown one too...

Neither of these appear on the actual Fox Bros site anymore, but I'd reach out with them and see if they might have any old stock available...or if they plan to update/expand their Exmoor offerings in a future book...

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
