And on a lighter note - from yesterday morning when my pusher cap was still present - here's the wrist situation yesterday. Quite like the VCA cuff links paired with the black strap 3970P.

After meeting Frills in person, one of the things I enjoyed most about was how he views and enjoys his time pieces. He just doesn't let the concern of babying get in the way of his enjoyment. I think this story is a great example of that aspect of him. And it's something I took away with me after getting the chance to hang out with him. Great stuff Frills! Not that it happened of course but the way you handled it.

Frills - great post man. You wear the watch, not the other way around. I'm sure it's just a fluke and Patek will make it right. Keep us posted.

Hey even a Ferrari can have a tail light that goes out. As you pointed out, there are more important things in life.

ps - good time to mention the importance of going to an AD vs a grey market..

No one expects a little silver looking thing on the ground is a piece of platinum. Sorry for the loss Frills!

@wurger The panda needs a black strap then it would be game on!

@aol910 The Seiko "monster" line has a black version. I think it is 42mm but the guys here that have the orange version can comment. Looks great for a couple hundred bucks.

Love that pairing of the VC&A links with the 3970P. Very sharp!

Well on the bright side, at least the movement didn't came off.

Hahahah! I actually know of a certain dealer who tried to pass off a 5004 (that's a $200,000+ watch) with NO MOVEMENT to one of his clients whom he probably knew treated his watches as safe queens. Hey, why not just give a case to a collector who doesn't actually use his watches? Hahahah. What a dweeb.

Frills, much respect for responding to the situation so matter of fact and not reacting! Could of got nasty, but not you

Thanks, TWAT brothers.

Truth be told, I don't mean to sound preachy. I really don't know how I would have reacted until the situation presented itself. I feel fortunate that I took it with relative nonchalance. I wouldn't say I WASN'T concerned at all, but I was in a bar with a bunch of watch enthusiasts and I took off the watch for them to check out too, spent the next couple of hours meeting new people and eating decent gyoza and sliders, and went home and made arrangements for repair.

I am glad to find out that my possessions haven't possessed me. Yet! I didn't go Gollum last night heh heh.

And on that note, I actually got my 3970P from a grey dealer! Remember, it's a discontinued piece (Patek discontinued the 3970 line in 2004) so unless you've got an AD sitting on it for eight years, NOS, then you're out of luck.

My dealer is fantastic - he offered to replace it for me via Patek USA, free of charge to me. Nice. Not every grey dealer will offer this kind of service or pick up the tab too, so I guess this is a good time to give my grey dealer a shout out!

frilly, are your single-cuff shirts custom made?

Yes they are - convertible button too!

Hahah thanks Dino! But I need to work out my wrists because they are too small...! Guess the heavy cuff links might help with that!

Late to the party here, but thought I would mention...

That says a lot that the loss of a pusher did not cause you too much worry. It is hard to remember sometimes that these little things on our wrists are... well, just that!

I am glad to hear that it is remedied. Those in NYC, keep your eyes out.
