Excellent choice, Congrats.Just got her this morning. I was initially apprehensive about going with a 40mm watch, but the Sub-C definitely wears much larger and with my flat 7" wrist, it's quite literally a perfect fit. To be honest, I'm actually still getting used to the heft (mind you I've been watch-less for 2 or so years so...). Overall, the fit and finish is impeccable and personally speaking, I find the cerachrome bezel to be absolutely stunning in person. I think this watch is a great blend of fashion and function, and now that I own one I can understand why the Submariner is arguably one of the most iconic watches of all time. Hopefully I can add an LV in the next 6 months.
Cheers!
1. popular watches are popular for a reason.
2. most people can "only" afford to have a few luxury watches, so its almost inevitable that many people, especially like minded people who are looking for certain design features and certain purchase to value ratios, would end up with similar, if not identical watches, within the aforementioned subset of popular watches.
3. as has been stated, if you keep up with the thread long term, you will see indeed a very nice variety of watches featured here. sure there is group think here as i just said, but there is also a lot of individuality expressed here. some of the individuality expressed might be nuances in similar models, and some might be in different models and brands altogether, for example, roger p's recent zenith and his moser. either way, its not monochrome up in this TWAT.
4. no one will stone you.
5. please do not ever again compare rolexes, omegas and panerais to AEs. that might get you stoned.
6. there are far more black faced subs than blue, in these pages.
7. beautiful watches are always special. the 1st time, and the 5 millionth.
Thanks Nuke.
I think you hit upon a very valuable point. That while we enjoy seeing photos of people's latest pride and joy and their heirloom watches, and photos do liven the place up (especially of Kate.) this thread is so much more.

Excellent choice, Congrats.
By the way, this is the LV version that I highly recommend.
Not to interrupt the beating, but 116520 Daytona -- black or white dial?
Excellent watch, it's certainly one of my favorites.Like most things, it depends.
I went with white because I already have a few black-dialed Rolex, and because it's a bit more legible. I love the way it looks in the sun and by the sea, too.
They're both good, though, and I don't think one choice is more correct or better than the other. As with every watch-decision matter, it's best try them both in person if you get the chance. I'm sure I would have been happy with either colour. Swapping dials isn't something I would do frequently on a chronograph due to how tightly the central seconds has to be fitted, but the option is there and it's not too difficult to source an alternate dial for a 116520 — so it's not like you're committed to the choice for life.
No regrets on the white dial so far, however:

I pretty much exclusively lurk in this thread, but to me, the discussions herein are fantastic, as are the pics posted. For diversity I'll post a pic of my single watch (atm). Warning though, I have neither a high caliber watch, nor high caliber photo taking skills. I've also never seen AE mentioned here... P.S I don't mind the Kate Upton pics either, not at all.
