Initially, I didn't care for the polished center links either, but you get used to them.  Since the mid 1990s they have slowly been introducing them on all of their watches other than the dive watches and the Ex2. 

And the Explorer I, right?

i suppose it was easy convincing me. Ive always liked the jubilee bracelet more than the oyster.

Total opposite for me...I've always favored the Oyster bracelets. I've owned 14 Rolex watches over the years and I've never purchased a single one with the Jubilee bracelet. I guess I always liked the chunkier links of the Oyster. In addition, at least on Oyster bracelets from the mid 80s and newer they always seemed to show less stretch than Jubilees did. Although with the solid center links on all of their bracelets, the Jubillees might be more rugged than they previously were.

Any thoughts on the newer 36mm Datejusts? I prefer the all-brushed past iterations, but they are no where near as comfortable as the newer ones. I initially hated the PCLs but I think I'm coming to terms with them. It errs to the side of dressy but is completely capable of looking good with jeans and a tshirt as well in my mind... especially on oyster. A tad small for my wrist but I simply don't like big watches so that is fine.
The Omega AT is its closest competitor in my price range, and I like that watch a lot, but something about the pointed hour indices and concern the teak dial will get old are keeping me from it. It's certainly a better watch for the money, but I don't love it like I love the DJ.

ill agree with the previous posters. i had the older DJ for a while and sold it a bit ago (huge mistake) and i earlier this week i tried on the new version for fun at a jewelry store. the bracelet is so much better and heftier feeling. the only thing i didnt love about earlier rolexes was that for the price point the bracelets seemed very weak sauce. that has been taken care of.

the watch as well has a nicer look imo, just sleeker and prettier. the brushed v polished center links is a non issue for me personally, i like em both.

as to the DJ v Omega, what dino sain. without a doubt.

also, i like the look of the oyster better, and i think seiko and citizens shameless ripoff of the jubilee and seeing them everywhere kind of turned me off to them.

I always felt the same way about the Jubilee bracelet after noticing all those pathetic copies from Seiko and Citizen. Loved the viagra comment!

Wow, the King Midas is both rare and very cool! The villain (Scaramanga) in the old 1970's Bond film, "The Man with the Golden Gun" wore a King Midas. Thanks for sharing a photo of that beauty. Post some more photos when you get a chance. Enjoy it and wear it in good health!
