The Geophysic ships with a 19mm strap with a really cool buckle that is 18mm. While I have several 19mm straps, they all have a more traditional 16mm taper, so I haven’t been able to take advantage of the OEM buckle.

I finally decided to order a 19/18 strap so I could make use of the pin buckle and now I have a better idea as to why they went for the slighter taper on the OEM strap. The watch wears much better with the wider strap. The Geophysic is somewhat heavy for a 38.5mm watch (at least compared to my other ones) and the lighter taper just makes it feel right

Thoughts on Leica coming in the watch game? Seems odd.

LeicaZM11-10.jpg

No thanks! Reminds me a bit of the old Porsche Design by IWC ...something like an Ocean 500 or Ocean 2000, but supersized and with less water resistance. I can see a little bit of PD's ref 3317 also. While, a titanium watch would fill a gap in my collection...I don't need something the size of a hockey puck, or something quite so bland that looks like vintage PD watches. If I want that look, I'll just go with a PD, and at least the size will be more wearable for a mere mortal.

Did you chuck the rubber for a sailcloth? How do you rank your Daytonas in order of preference?
No - I replaced the oysterflex with a Rubber B strap that I like much better. Honestly, here’s how I rank my Daytonas:

1) Oysterflex panda
2) Everything else.

I don’t even wear the ceramic steel one. It’s in a safe rotting away until my 2-year-old son is old enough to lose it on sports betting.
