Good question - hence seeking some advice. Its a few millimeters of difference in case size and in thickness, although I haven't had the chance to try on a vintage GMT myself.

You definitely need to try on a 5 digit GMT/Explorer II etc to see if it actually makes a difference in comfort. I own two 6 digit GMTS, a 6 digit black dial Ex2, and 5 digit Ex2, Sub, and Daytona. I my wrists are close to the size of yours. While the Ex2 is larger, and the bracelet is heavier (solid links) than that on a 5 digit GMT, I don't actually notice a difference in comfort between any of those watches. Although, some people have bonier or fattier wrists than others and that can cause some watches lay differently on them. I will say, when it comes to reading time at a glance, the Ex2 is unbeatable with is larger hour marker and hands (especially once you are over age 50). However, if a watch was uncomfortable to wear, then I wouldn't have it in my collection, unless there was some sentimental connection. Good luck with whatever you decide.

There’s nothing illegal 99% of the time. Only if you did something wrong during dd but even then very unlikely.

Yeah, it sounds like the terms are very different in the country in which he operates (Singapore?) than it is in the US (and, based on my more limited understanding, Canada).

In the US, investors are generally second to last in line when things go bad (employees and other common stock holders are behind them). Even if there were proven fraud or theft, the VCs may prefer to walk away rather than engage in some lengthy dispute with founders. There are of course rare exceptions of criminal activity by founders, but often the VCs prefer to preserve their reputation and just write it off. Given that most investments go to zero, this is just part of their business model.

What you will see VCs do is shake up the team and push founders out before they have a chance to nuke enterprise value. That happens frequently enough and can prevent the destruction of their returns but after a company burns through their capital, there is just a lot less they can do about it.

Looking for some advice from you folks -

Last year my AD came through out of the blue and offered an Explorer II polar with essentially no purchase history. Didn't have long to make the decision and bought it. I've had it for over a year now but now I am considering moving it on for a 5 digit GMT. I love the polar, but I have rather small wrists (6.5 inches) and it just doesn't really get worn over my speedy, which is much more comfortable. I also have a SMP 300 that likewise hasn't been getting much wear the past year. If I wear the Explorer II or SMP out for a day, by the time I get home, I want nothing to do with it due to the size. But I want to keep a GMT function. So, I have just recently been thinking of trading/selling the Explorer II and SMP and getting a 5 digit GMT to replace one or both. Love to get the collective wisdom.

Also, I was able to see the new white speedy in person. It is really lovely, and it is next on my list to acquire, which is also part of the consideration of maybe moving on the polar II. Not sure I need two white dial sports watches.

Life is too short to keep an expensive watch around that doesn't wear comfortably. I certainly sold this recent Sub for that reason. Over the last few days I've been wearing a different watch on a bracelet and despite some similarities in size (though about 20% lighter) it's super comfy to the point that I barely notice I have it on. When I was wearing the Sub, I was absolutely aware of it on my wrist all the time.

Over the last few days I've been wearing a different watch on a bracelet and despite some similarities in size (though about 20% lighter) it's super comfy to the point that I barely notice I have it on. When I was wearing the Sub, I was absolutely aware of it on my wrist all the time.

I couldn't afford to keep both that and the new explorer, so off it went. I regret that sale - had full box and papers and was a nice watch. So, I am thinking of the following scenarios based on current watch budget and collection:

Sell the Polar II and SMP, net around $14k ish. Leaves me with a Glashutte dress watch and my speedy (plus a garmin and some moonswatches I wear traveling).

Then either:

- Purchase a 5 digit GMT and have a little remaining for future white speedy (maybe, depending on the deal);

- Purchase another 16570 explorer II and a white speedy (at least get a deposit down). Would probably get another polar, but might get a black face if I am getting a white speedy;

- Purchase a white speedy and have approximately half saved for a future 5 digit GMT, particularly if the market goes bad in the near future and get a better deal;

Or, just sell the Polar II, keep the SMP, and either get a 5 digit GMT, white speedy, or 16570 explorer II and save any remainder.

Appreciate that my watch budget is much lower then many here, but I love the hobby.

Edit: the goal is to keep the new acquisition or acquisitions at around the same I get back or within a few thousand.

I’ve recently consolidated my collection around a 5-digit GMT. Do it. Find a good one and you’ll be happy.

Nothing wrong with admitting that you were wrong the first time around by rebuying the 16570. Sounds like it’s what you want to refill that void regardless.
