Following up on the recent Valstar/Valstarino discussion...
Has anyone had to take a *bigger* size in the Clint than the Valstarino? I ordered this jacket during the archive sale. It's labeled as the "Cowboy" jacket here, but as far as I can tell it's identical to the Clint, all the way down to the corduroy lining.
I'm normally a medium in everything, but I follow the size up 1 advice and take a 50 in the Valstarino. I expected a size 50 Cowboy/Clint to be a little loose on me if anything, but was shocked to find that it was even slimmer-fitting than the Valstarino. Whereas a 50 Valstarino is by no means too small on me, the size 50 Clint didn't pass any sort of shoulder test, and was visibly too slim when zipped up. FWIW I'm 6'1, 165ish, with maybe a 39 inch chest.
Anyone have similar experiences? Was this a one-off thing? Also...maybe WTB size 52 Clint?
I took the same size Clint in this archive sale as my Valstarino (54 in both) and I have a 41" chest, for a "comfortable but not fitted" fit. If I were 6'1" and 39" true chest, I would have gotten a 52 in either for the kind of fit I like.
Yea I think the Clint was an exclusive that Valstar eventually made into mass production.
Also yes that they decided to call it the cowboy which is not the same as the NMWA cowboy (which I also have)
I agree the Valstar version Cowboy is kind of a NMWA Clint knock-off, very different than NMWA's Cowboy. I think Valstar calls NMWA's Cowboy, the Zip Jacket.
For reference, I wear a 54 in Valsterino. I pre-ordered the 54 Cowboy from NMWA for FW23. It was way too big. I got super lucky that a 52 came back in stock a few months later and @gdl203 went well above and beyond and I was able to switch it out for the smaller size.
