Does anyone have experience with Drake's socks? Are they any good? I was thinking of getting some, they have some nice colours.
I have a few likewise for the colors, but the quality isn't as good as I would hope. I find them quite thin and (ime at least) they tend to loosen up really quick. they're also stupidly expensive for what they are

otoh the colors, as always, are great. they're vivid and are accurate to what's on the site

I agree completely about the socks. Great colors (especially the purple and brown), middling quality, unjustifiable pricing. I bought some a few years ago when the pricing was more like $35/pair, but since then I've mostly moved on to other brands like Pantherella, Bresciani, and Mazarin.

I had a similar question as the original asker, and the sneaking suspicion what the answer would be. I’ve been after a quality OTC oatmeal sock like the drakes offering, but it’s a difficult color to find elsewhere.

I bought some Boardroom navy socks and have been pleased with them so far, but they don’t have a color like the above. Anyone know where I might find something like it? I love drakes and am willing to pay drakes prices for many things, but probably not for these at the quality they sound like.

I recently bought the navy donegal raglan and concur with pretty much everything Kid_Icarus has said. I must say I really like the 'flowy' drape of the coat and the fact that the texture is more of an open weave but it seems this isn't really what you're looking for.
To give you some perspective on your question about temperatures: I just came back from a trip to Paris/France and wore the coat nonstop for a couple of days. Temperatures fluctuated between around 2 degrees (Celsius) late in the evening on the coldest and around 9 degrees in the afternoon on the warmest day. I almost exclusively layered with a simple cotton t-shirt + hoodie and a thick wool/cashmere scarf. No issues up to around 5 degrees but below that, especially with chilly winds on top, things quickly got uncomfortable (buttoned up, obviously). YMMV of course but this was my experience.
Thanks a lot for your perspective.
I will have a thought over the holidays and the month afterwards. If it get's reduced by about 20-30 in an sale, I would get myself one. But at retail it seems like it does not tick enough boxes to justify it.
Other options would be the Permanent Style Donegal in navy wool, though that would be a purchase for next season since it's sold out in my size.
Or the navy RL Polo Coat in Meltonwool. I've tried that one in prague recently and it certainly has a lot of heft to it. Quite stiff aswell but would be crazy warm I guess. Still, the value on that one isn't to great either in my mind...

In case you or anyone else is looking for a size 44: There's a navy donegal one on sale for 975 GBP at https://www.kafkamercantile.com/uk/browse/Mens/b-Drakes-811/, also some other Drake's pieces. No advert and not affiliated with them in any way but they carry some nice stuff. I bought my coat from them and everything went pretty smooth. If you're in the EU, even the non sale prices should be slightly cheaper than ordering directly from Drake's.
