Following up on my post a while back about the sartorial vs Games tweed. I ended up selling my tailored gun club check and picking up the red-and-brown PoW Games. Personally I prefer it, even the flap pockets, as it's more the vibe I was after, though I really like the way the tailored coats fit on others that posted. in any case, the gap definitely seems closer in the tweeds than between other sartorial and Games materials

That looks really great on you!

Do you have a pic of you wearing the tailored blazer that you sold, by any chance? I am curious about the difference in fit, as I am only familiar with the Games line.
I read your comment of course about the gap being not that big on the tweeds... but still

Thanks! So I unfortunately didn't get pics with that old blazer before I sold it. However I do still have an older tailored tweed, the Drake's x David Coggins PoW, which I picked up used at some point. Coggins tailored blazer on the left, Games on the right:

It's interesting to see these side-by-side myself (and now I wonder whether I even need to keep the Coggins blazer... Do I really need two brown PoW jackets, though they are different in shade and style?). Anyway some stray observations:
- The tailored jacket has (or appears to have) narrower lapels, a higher gorge, and lower buttoning point
- The sleeves are narrower on the tailored jacket
- The tailored one would look better with straight-leg jeans, or a different trouser. Both probably would honestly
- Weirdly the Games jacket is heavier when I pick them both up. Not substantially, but it is noticeable

Thanks man! That is really helpful.
(and for what it's worth, I would keep both... says the man with three navy blazers...)

just an fyi, Ssense has their winter private sale on right now. while most of their drake's stuff is still wildly expensive, the mid-blue Oxfords are... well, I hesitate to say reasonably priced, but they're not as bad at $166 a pop, and they've got a good range of sizes in stock. for a staple shirt I feel like Drake's doesn't restock these often enough, so in case it's useful to anyone

How do you access the sale?

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
