Guys, I recently put my wax coverall on ebay as I have outgrown it, both in terms of fat and muscle mass. Could do with a size or two larger now, as it was always a bit small, which reduced how much I wore it.

However, I'm now wondering do I buy the same one in a larger size, or do I buy the long coverall.

Obviously a large part of the appeal of the coverall is the boxy fit, that seems to be fairly unique to Drake's waxed offering. Ironically, this was also the downside of it for me, especially since being 6'4 and favouring a longer sports jacket, it meant that the sleeves and skirt of the sports jacket stuck out to such an extent that I think it looked a bit odd.

Does the Long Waxed Coverall have a similarly nice fit and shape? It's such a beautiful and substantial piece that I'd love to replace with another of it's kind, but honestly it being perhaps more similar to a barbour (which is nearly £500 cheaper) is a deterrent to getting it and instead just getting a barbour.

Can anyone convince me that I should go for the long waxed coverall?! I know what i want, I just need compelling reasons!

I’ve got the previous version of the long coverall (with hand warmer pockets on chest) - being the same height as you, I’d recommend it over the standard version for that extra length. Re size, it being roomy, I went for 42 (normally 44) but could have gone for either, no massive difference in look I found - it looks great over a shirt or equally when layered, I’m not sure if that’s unique to Drake’s as I’m not an expert in Barbour - the only model I had was a summer Bedale which was slim. How about the Drake’s for spring/autumn/winter and a Barbour for summer?!

I really really like the new olive ripstop vest…. Can’t justify it right now though…
i had this exact thought... but im going through a real ****** breakup right now and somehow my brain tells me that spending an inordinate amount of money on a vest will make me feel better

I have both a Drake's coverall and several Barbour jackets. I cannot comment on your questions about sizing, but the quality of the Drake's jacket stands out, from the hardware to the lining, the stitching and so on. Barbour may have the heritage, but Drake's will stand out (and last) longer.

I don't own the Drake's, but we will need to wait 60 years to see if a Drake's waxed jacket will really outlast a Barbour and look good doing it.

Barbour can repair again and again + actually look better wrecked and patched.

Another Drake’s adjacent (poor man) outfit

1. Buzz Rickson Original Spec Chino. Warning I had to size 4 sizes above my actual waist size for this to fit. But they’re a perfect fit for me now with my small waist to ass/thigh/calf ratio.
2. 1inch plaited leather belt made via Etsy
3. Second hand JM Weston 180s
4. Kamakura vintage Ivy OCBD
5. Kamakura Ivy socks
6. Vintage Ralph Polo cotton jacket

Some new, some second hand. All up about $345 USD

Well played. Just the JM Weston for 345 would be close to the price they cost second hand!

How breatheable are Drake's suede jackets?

Maybe this is a question about suede jackets in general and Drake's in particular. I'm currently travelling in Italy and thinking it would make a great travel jacket for this transitional weather. But I tend to run hot, specially when walking, so I always favor breathable, more open weave cloths to keep me from getting sweaty, even when layering in fall and winter (knits, wool jackets, etc).

I've never had a suede jacket so IDK how it wears. Thoughts?
