Is the fit ok in 43.5?
Cognac shell, 3636 last
vass has really no consistency. you just get a ballpark color. youll get saddle shell only if they have saddle shell. otherwise youre looking at their lightest whiskey or antigue cognac shell

These are size 44. I find the U last very similar to the Carmina Simpson last (that I happen to be wearing today). By the end of the day my toes start to feel a little squeezed. Quality wise, I don't see much difference between Carmina and Vass (at least the Vass pair that I have) Maybe Vass comes in different grades? The 43.5 F last shoes are still out there, tempting me!!!!
How do you compare them to Carmina ?.
Each skin from Horween comes stamped with the color, so to do so you need to be doing some serious mistake.
Thank you for that description - I was really curious about Vass shell vs. Carmina shell as well. I think that break-in period may also depend on fit, as my Carmina shoes in Rain last were super-comfortable right off the bat.Finishing wise I'd say they're really close, which really shows the value of Carmina.
Fit and feel wise, Vass is superior, they're lightweight and almost feel like wearing slippers...it was uncanny when I first tried mine on.
Pretty much no break in period, whereas my Carminas all took a couple weeks of wear to be comfortable.
Speaking of which, are these unusually square P2s, or unexpectedly graceful Budapesters?

I would say is P2 too??. Do not really understand. Then it seems a mix between P2 and 3636 lasts, lol!!It's not often that 3636s look so svelte. Congrats!
+1 about Carmina. Maybe is my feet shape, but the only shoemaker whose lasts fits me almost perfect like Carmina is Weston in narrow D width. Carmina is a perfect balance of construction, materials, finishings, lasts, models, quality control and service for the price offered. Nowadays I think is better known abroad than in Spain, whereas there is no real shomaking consumer culture for high-end shoes (no good cobblers/repair materials/shoe forums). It is unbelievable taking into account that we produce large quantities of good shoes . Hope Vass will meet my expectations once my 4 orders arrive and after returning two pairs (his book impressed me a lot) !!Finishing wise I'd say they're really close, which really shows the value of Carmina.
