Okay, I might have been exaggerating a bit but I'd throw it in the same category as a corduroy suit...can you wear it indoors, sure. Is it largely a seasonal piece for the colder months, yes. Would most people be hot wearing it to a crowded reception/party/dance floor regardless of the time of year, also yes.

It's for sure overkill, and for nobody but us nerds...for whom it's still overkill lol.
