Fantastic Barbera. Biodynamic, three years in neutral oak and four years bottle age before release.

Very delicate and mineral-ly pinot. Great value at $22.

98% Grenache and 2% Syrah. Am I the only one that still drinks wine around here? Piob -- delete your signature.

Just been distracted lately between work and the Trump-verse. In the last week have had a '15 Denner 100% Grenache that was spectacular. Deep, deep mocha and dark cherry. Just wonderful and had it a week ago today with our usual Thursday cheese and charcuterie + fixings. Great cru Beauj on Saturday at the neighbors. She served...baked spaghetti. It's nice they feel that close to us...

Other than that just putting daily drinker level Cabs from Full Pull with BBQ out of the freezer that last few days.

Okay, very non Kosta. No opulent plushness, no super cherry bomb. This is lean and with some minerality.

Cab franc, cab and petit verdot from Oakville. Dark with lots of blue and black fruits, but nicely balanced.

Decent Californian wines are hard to come by in England. In fact, outside of internet sellers and local wine shops (chancing their arm with huge mark-ups) they are just not represented.

I was therefore pleasantly surprised to find a couple of Paso Robles reds at my local supermarket the other day - albeit from a maker I had not heard of. Both were from Chronic Cellars and from a quick google the other was what I believe to be a re-branded Purple Paradise.

This one, however, was an end of line and the last bottle being sold off at £10. I was very pleasantly surprised - not the last word in refinement or power but very good value. Shame it was the last one really.

The Zinfandel on the other hand is available year-round and I will stock up at £12 a bottle.
