Thrifting around Vegas - opinions?  Looking at renting a car for a weekday ($50 + gas), hit about 10 or 12 places in Henderson, and Summerlin / Spring Valley.  GW, Savers and Sally's mostly.  Of the dozen+ times I've been there, I've never hit any thrifts so no clue if it's worth the time & money.

I hope I'm not blowing up anyone's spot but the Buffalo Exchange was really good to me when I was there.

Some places have them, some don't.  Stuff I donate to my local GW store shows up on the racks at the same store.  Stuff donated to one of the attended trailers, does go to sorting & distribution.  Vegas, I don't know.

I've been all over Vegas - my favorite area (after downtown) being Boulder Highway where all the old motels and nasty places are...I used to plan trips around taking pictures of old motels, diners, burger joints, strip clubs, vintage neon, classic Americana, abandoned places etc.  Route 66 remnants and all that jazz.  Just never thrifted Vegas.  Might give it a shot.
Vegas can get really sketchy outside the tourist areas.  I briefly entertained moving there until I saw what a craphole most of it was, plus I like to drink and gamble so moving there would probably have been one of the worst decisions of my life!

You dont say? We have the same interest lol

Have so much **** I don't even know where to begin. I bought a Canon printer this morning that is from the ******* future, need to budget and post my plethora of ****. Planned on that being my week, nothing going out, money coming in.... I held out for 4 ******* hours...I have a problem.

Talbott BOC in way way back almost not pictured, Ferragamo in the back, then Chipp2, YSL wool knit, Brooks Gatsby NWT, Current Zegna x3, EZ NWT

Facconable in the back, EZ, Stefano Ricci x2

Most random pairing of shirts ever. Alpaca flannel by PRL, Brioni (n/a), Loro Piana polo, RL flannel (which I'm growing quite the collection of for some reason, just liked the purple accent on this one)

POP POP POP... Dat RIVE GAUCHE ... the tag looks worn but it also states that it is just a jacket and not part of a suit, which the tag one older than this one, does not, so I'm thinking Tom Ford and not Hedi Slimane, but it also has the utilitarian, almost military type vibe with the brass buttons, cuff detailing, and wool twill, Hedi is known for...@SpooPoker ?

edit: the neck tag gives it away, didn't even register. Tom Ford for sure.

Vtg Versace Classic V2 sweater, Gran Sasso 1/2 Zip Pure Cashmere Ivory and Sky Blue Argyle, made in Italy

Some fairly good condition Kiltie tassle Ferragamo loafers

Vintage PRL made in USA Suit (n/a)

Vtg Norman Hilton 2 btn Navy Flannel Suit (doubt this needs to be said for this item, but n/a)

And then I think I'll finish with this.

Fin.

This unknown brand of boots for me.
Corcoran is good stuff. Military contracted to make their Jump Boots. Worth a decent amount. Never seen the zippered sides, though. 80's-90's would be my guess.

I take a pair of shoes to the counter at the consignment store.

Dude at the counter looks inside the shoes.

He asks, confused, "Horn-ween?"

"What is Horn-ween??"

I say "I dunno."

Oops. I did know.

I had the opposite experience. $18 for a used Van Heusen dress shirt? That was one of many weird prices I noticed going through the racks. Found a couple of good things, especially shoes, but way above thrift prices so I passed. Didn't have a ton of luck at the Savers and GW in the area but found a few things. Could've just been a bad week.

Was going to post the same thing, but didn't want to ruin anyone's spot either.

...But I guess since we're talking spots I just went to some places along Tropicana Ave. Very close to the strip. There was a Goodwill, Savers, etc very close to each other. Found a couple things I was happy with.

I don't know about everyone else, but it's more about the adventure for me when I'm thrifting in a new town. Doesn't even matter if I don't find anything.

This was my exact feeling when I thrifted ABQ, set out with no idea if I was going to come up with anything or empty. Had a ton of fun adventuring around town, and making my list of spots and what not. So when I go back in a couple weeks I'll know what to expect.

As has been stated, places like Buffalo Exchange, Crossroads Trading Post, and Wasteland, (if you have any of these three), are great spots to find denim, outerwear, sweaters, blazers.....actually they can be good for a lot of things except shirts. That is unless they have a ****** pricer. I found the ones in LA with the ****** pricers who thought Purple Label was the same as Blue and priced as such. Places that priced Japanese denim like Roy, Stevenson Overall Co, Big John, and Real Japan Blues for like 50 bucks. NWT's Raleigh Raw selvage for 30 bucks. Crossroads is the most female oriented of the bunch, if you have one nearby, I'd stop by and see what's good with their pricer. ******** up and got greedy as I am sure others did as well... now Dior Jeans are 150, their selvage jeans have the cuff flipped up, and Purple Label is second hand Purple label price. These places are generally about 15-20% below ebay prices. But you factor in ebay taking like 13% and Paypal fees and the **** just usually isn't worth it.

In regards to whether the designer stores in Vegas are primarily for tourists or not, they clearly are. I would think that hardly any business comes from locals. Considering that, maybe the thrifting isn't as good as we'd like? I'd still go for the adventure, though.

I think the designer stores cash in on the YOLO attitude you get when you're in Vegas. You end up buying crap that you probably wouldn't have bought at home. I know I have family members that fell for that...Women in the Louis Vuitton store....sheesh.

That retail space Tom Ford and LV have ... or the shops at the Bellagio... those places make ******* bank. That's why you find flagships in LA, NY and Vegas. People hit the tables, get free liqueur'd up and either go drunkenly splurge with their winnings or the drown their sorrows with some retail therapy. Those boutiques make ******* baank.

Edit: Sorry, didn't take in your first part... I would think the thrifting there would be pretty good...there's a lot of wealthy people there, you gotta consider the amount of money Casinos and resorts generate, and all the pockets this money is going into. People that call Vegas home.

A few bits from a quick trip with @1ofTheCoolKids Everything n/a.

700

Dale of Norway.

700

Celine and BB Makers

700

Aldens. These may need to be stripped and refinished, but will probably be worth it.

700
700

Cashy Sammy.

And this cowhide Wings suitcase. I have no idea if it's valuable, and I can't imagine using it, even though the inside is spotless. Who uses actual suitcases these days? It'll probably hold sweaters under my bed.
