Psht a REAL art snob just needs an illegible scribble to know the artist.

A full view would really help to place the piece in context. If it's a known artist, someone may be able to identify it by style, and then work back to the artist from there, comparing to signatures on similar works.

As a former boss of mine used to say, "there's no accounting for taste."
