Oh garage sales are almost done, I'm sad. Here are some fun things over the past week or so:

We dug this out of a box, the newspaper bag I saved from my route in the 1980s. Never selling this one:

Found these two at a garage sale for $1 ea. Some slight issues but still cool:

More PRL:

NWT, the prices are almost double or more now on the Flax website. These are also great because we used to visit this store in the late 90s. Bibelot closed I think in 2019. Flax.jpg

Every Time I pick up a Hawaiian shirt I learn more about the industry. Mamo Howell was a big part of it. I wasn't able to find much detail but the Hilo Hattie collaboration looks like it didn't end well.

Starter Jacket from 1989:

Haven't picked up this brand in a while:

I don't know much about this one but it seems old.

This one took me a moment:

Have a great weekend everyone!

Haven't had too much time to thrift given work recently, but still managed to score a few finds

Selvedge 501s, NWT Sunspel, Anglo Italian denim, and Patagonia all from one store

Ralph Lauren chelseas are made in Italy - are these Polo (since no italic script)?

Jacket above is from Cyril A. Castle, cost 10.50, apparently used to be tailor for Roger Moore when he was James Bond! Jacket is from 1975.

Shell from yesterday and a nice Canali blend.

Pop. In fact I don't think I ever heard of these before. Not sure if it was worth a pickup but as I had never seen it before...

I've definitely been tapering down my trips to the thrift store this last year. Especially as things seemed drier and drier, there was less of a motivation to make a day of it. But this summer really turned that around, I've found some really great things these past few months:

This immaculate Polo Ralph Lauren suede belted safari jacket. Haven't been able to track down what the retail price on this would've been, but I imagine it was $$$.

Pop on Cesare Attolini. Wool / Cashmere blend fresco suit. Was stunned when I came across this, hoped I might find more, but I'm not that lucky.

Typically pass on Canali, but this was so unusual I couldn't leave it behind. A wool / silk / mohair blend with suede elbow patches, I'm tempted to keep it if it fits well enough.

Polo Ralph Lauren double-breasted linen jacket.

Your standard navy Isaia Aquaspider, always nice to find.

Brioni 3-button for Don Cornelius from Soul Train. Thing's massive, even on me, nominally a 58L.

Brunello Cucinelli and Carroll & Company jackets I found, but gave to a friend before I could take proper photos. Pop on Cucinelli tailoring, the C&C jacket was a nice silk herringbone.

(2) Ralph Lauren Purple label jackets, one black, one navy. The opposite of the Don Cornelius fit, these are very small, 38S.

I really need to stop buying ties, or finding more occasions to rock them, but these ones are pretty neat. From L-R:

Navy Turnbull & Asser bowtie, Canali herringbone, Polo Ralph Lauren in wool, (2) RLPL ties including the blue grenadine one, pop on Bijan (this thing is crazy good), Kiton, (2) Brioni, pop on the (2) Rubinacci, Stefano Ricci, and Battistoni.

And as a bonus of sorts, not thrifted, but thrift funded, I received my completed jacket from Sartoria Solito a couple months ago after my trip to Italy and several fittings. Came out beautifully, would definitely recommend them to anyone curious to go the bespoke route. I would have never caught this classic menswear bug if not for thrifting, so I have this thread to thank for my current obsession.
