Cozy house sweater goal attained for $6.99. Older, but zero holes or moth nibbles and the good heavy 4-ply stuff

For those following...whole lot going on in here, no wonder it weighs ~20 pounds. The capstan belt is toast. Ordered one up from the only US source I could find.

Everything else looks very clean and without obvious signs of oxidation or degradation. Some wood dust or frass to blow out by the faceplate, weird.

Fingers crossed...

2016 was when I started, but I already see a huge difference between now and then.

I agree with this - I’ve got a deep stock of Scottish-made Ballantyne acquired over the past ~20 years but pieces are few and far between now.

Many thanks! I hit it with a steam iron for a few seconds...

Awesome. You might be able to get some of that glue off with a Q-tip and some weak solvent (don't want to strip color off the label or mess it up). But that's an improvement.

Very quick little one stop at a place I’d never been today. We were on our way to get a Christmas tree and realized we needed a stand so we stopped at the closest thrift store that was open.

1950s (I think) 7 1/8 3x Stetson Open Road and unknown shell longwings. The hat is about a quarter inch too small for me and the shoes fit but are in desperate need of a resole so who knows if I’ll ever cough up the dough for that.
