have you tried a wedge sole on any other boots? how does it compare in general?

Only difference is that the gap created by a separate heel stack is filled in. You can't feel any difference from the inside of the boot but your amount of grip area is increased on the outside making that ideal for snow boots. RO creepers are essentially a wedge with a block dense foam outsole stitched (newer years) to a goodyear leather sole (old ones were glued on only). Those are about as close as I get to sneakers anymore.

CA is starting to heat up but i am staying strong, wearing my ccp to the end, just opening up the bottom zipper for some cooling effect

you could strap some little battery fans over the open zips if it gets too bad.

once you factor in shipping + customs, does it really work out to be cheaper? Especially given the current euro/usd exchange rate, seems like the prices would have to be *very* different to make it work out. (Unless I'm misestimating the VAT, e.g., it doesn't seem as if getting the frontzips from PN\P would be less than getting them in LA.) Y'all would know better than me, it just seems surprising.
what sinnedk said, it mostly comes down to the import tax the stores outside of Europe (or Japan, or the US depending on the country of origin for the brand, have you seen Darkland's InAisce prices?) need to pay.

main reason it's cheaper is that many stores are happy to mark down parcels when shipping overseas to avoid customs taxes and fees (in addition to deducting the VAT), even though it's technically illegal to under declare and their accepting liability that if something were to happen to the parcel they would only be compensated for the lower declared value. (not that I'm complaining, I purchase my fair share of pieces from all over the world depending on where I can source things from.)

it just annoys me to see folks roam into a store like they own the place, order around the staff to fetch this and that, then just walk off without so much as mumbling a thank you..

Yea i agree, at the very least be humble and nice about ****. I feel less bad about this with big department stores (barneys, etc) but the smaller shops I tend to be more sensitive. I do try things on and most of the time i intend to buy stuff just it rarely works out cuz i cannot find things i want in store.

There is a consignment shop i keep stopping by and the guys know me there. I haven't bought anything but i also talk to them so they know that i am looking for specific stuff and they have pointed me to ccp/guidi/etc. I don't feel bad about anything there because i kept it friendly and i told them if i see something i want from them i'm dropping cash.

SF & Berkeley, yeah. I remember when Sui Generis opened, actually, not that I had any clue about their stock in trade at the time (and I was an impecunious grad student anyway).
