Have you found the holes on the edge of the machines platform edge. there are hinges made for that purpose. and they dont cost much.

Have you used stylefourms search? ask for "tailors technical tutorials".
There is lots of info there on tailoring alterations.

Yeah, here they are (well, one side):

So I found the right kind of hinges, but I'm having a hard time finding Pfaff specifc ones. They aren't expensive, so I might just grab a few pairs and see how well they fit.

LL THE MANUFACTURES SET THE TWO HOLES TO ACCEPT ONE TYPE OF HINGE, THERE MAY BE SLIGHT DIFFERENCES. JUST BUY ONE PAIR THATS ALL YOU NEED.
CONTACT A DEALER THAT CARRIES PFAFF AND ASK THEM FOR HELP. AND SEND THAT PICTURE ALSO.

Painted my jeans with black Gesso diluted with water, turned out well. Super stiff but at least the paint doesn't fall off

Yo I made a shirt!

...a good 2 months ago, but just now got around to taking pictures. I've done the usual minor alterations before (hemming, tapering, patching, etc), but this was my first time actually making a garment from scratch. The main body is a lightweight linen/rayon blend, with ribbed neck/hem/cuffs. I was really inspired by a wonky CWLS tee I'd just gotten that had one shoulder dropped so far that the shoulder seam was curved as it passed the shoulder--giving it a relaxed look without getting into super boxy territory.

Afterwards...remember alllllll the early summer sashiko hype? yup. Whole front of the shirt in a hemp leaf pattern. That was definitely the most taxing part of the project. It's not perfect by any means. All the stitch lengths are eyeballed, and I'd never done any decorative embroidery before, but imo it adds to the character of the garment.

^^^^Amazing! I've got a vintage Schott shearling coat with a couple tears in the leather that I'm about to mend using vintage Japanese fabric. I was thinking about using a sashiko type stitch to secure the fabric. Will report back with results.

This is a vintage skin, its very dry. The more holes you poke in it the worse it gets.
Use the fewest stitches, just enough to draw the hole closed. Then cover the area well with a cloth patch, the patch should be coated with glueThe patch should cover at least an inch beyond the hole on all of its sides.
Sobo or Barge are good glues for leather.

Cool! These are good things to know, I never even thought about using glue on the patch.

Quick sanity check. Crazy shoulder bunching aside, am I delusional thinking that a snap-in stole would be awesome? Thinking of doing a cut-sew kinda deal with messed up black fringe and little gothic-ish black lace insets in a few places. Would pair with future projects: drapey rayon-knit tee w/ raw hems and patchwork inspired by the sweet pants @Melvile posted in waywt, and vintage size 40 tuxedo pants rebuild w/ drop crotch/spiral legs & some other goofy little details.
...or maybe just wear with outfits like this in the meantime idk what I'm doing stage an intervention please.

I'm a fan of Supreme's "****" rug from a few years ago, so when I wanted to learn to embroider I decided to try to somewhat replicate the design for my first project (this one is about 3.5" x 3.5"). But it didn't turn out as well as I wanted it to. Does anyone embroider and have tips on how to make it look less sloppy?
