Looking good Ben! How do you find travelling through airports with the boots? I may wear a pair for our holiday trip.

I find it to be entirely tolerable, in fact enjoyable. I try to remember to wear something with hooks to speed things up; admittedly I usually end up forgetting and wear my 4060.

I just applied for a NEXUS which includes TSA precheck which will be nice, but I think the support shanks will still require removal at security?

Safe travels!

Has anyone gotten their suede aldens recrafted? What do they do to the suede and is it worth it? Or am I better off just getting them resoled somewhere else

Still waiting for my Leffot tankers to arrive this week, but I thought I'd share something since there was a lot of hysteria in the past week about a "new color 8" being darker or something.

My color 8 AF53s just after unboxing, and again this morning after a little sun bathing and a about a year of once a week wear:

I don't buy shell for how it looks new, I'm investing in how it will look after some wear.

I am Pre-TSA and the shanks definitely set the metal detectors off. I usually wear my LHS for easy on off. I will be with wife, 3-yr old, and 6 mth old, so it may not be the best trip to try out the boots

Shanks in my Aldens and Vibergs always set off the metal detectors in the airport (I'm also TSA Pre) so I stopped wearing them through.

Last time it happened to me there was a dude right behind me who was dressed very nice, and wearing very nice shoes who also had to remove his. We had a little moment and he said something like "the price you pay for wearing quality footwear..."

i think someone here said they are able to get through by stepping past the detector one foot at a time. i've been doing that and it works for me pretty often. i still have to remove them maybe 30% of the time.
