I have these boo
I thought the same thing – this boot should be on a commando sole.

I have these boots and I have to say I am somewhat disappointed with the durability of the single sole; it wore down much quicker to the welt stitching than any other alden's I have owned. Also, I wear them in the same way I wear my other aldens (rain or shine); never in a downpour.

They look great - but will be switching them to double soles when the time is right...

I agree with the single sole annoyance, it is a puzzling choice. But, to my knowledge, no one is doing a NST in this material with double waterlock or commando (all the others I have seen are smooth tobacco or not NST). We would have to get a group MTO going... I will assess in person, but there is always the option of resoling thru a 3rd party to commando.

Still waiting on the Halleck.
Should be any time now, right? We're now at seven months. The email said "Alden is communicating that there may be up to two year delays on color 8 and black cordovan stock shoes make-ups, so these boots potentially may not come around for another 2 years." but a six+ month timeline seems more realistic for color 8.

This is my first purchase from Unionmade. What is their m.o. with respect to taking preorders/getting confirmation/taking delivery, etc?

if the email says 2 years then...why would you expect anything different?

I guess cause it says "up to two years". Could be a week wait and that statement would be correct.

It would be nice if Alden's offered an an option to the Commando such as Dainite. Very popular these days and wear better than Commandos.

Because
