Beebs I noticed first Plaza lasted

Had to go back and look again to even notice the commando sole. I think that says a lot about the commando.

Ryden Love the NST - I figure Mr. DV has a couple pair in case of rain in So. Cali. I should at least have a pair for the frequent downpours in New England.

Are you a Mark Ryden fan?

Simple question that I can't seem to find an answer. Is the Dover the same as the basic PTB or are there subtle differences?

they are different takes on the same theme. the PTB is a "wholecut" derby style, which is a less common and a more costly construction that few makers use as their default derby/blucher model. the dover, on the other hand, is a more common cut of derby/blucher that is made from separate pieces of leather, which are then stitched together. in addition, the dover comes in lined and unlined versions.

The PTB is basically a wholecut where the Dover is made from 2 separate pieces. This has been discussed here with pics in the past. Search Dover from around 2 months ago or so and it should come up.

^ No problem. I'd take crepe for pure comfort but Dainite for versatility. Maybe worth finding a place (Brooks Brothers?) to try on some Dainite soled shoes (obviously not Aldens).

I had the JCrew suede Indys on crepe but sold because they were too big - Trubalance a no go for me. Still kicking myself for not getting Need Supply Gamble Hill Indy in Barrie on crepe.

Size?

Just throwing out there that I have in my possession some sz 8 Gamble Indys sitting in the box... wasn't thinking I would land the Brandy Vibergs, but now I have, think these might be a bit superfluous.

Not looking for a sale, just a friendly note that I will let someone interested in these know when they've been received at NS.

new cigar PTBs showed up today. Alden definitely seems to be leaning on the dark side now for cigar, which is a shame imo.

Tif,

Technically the Dover is made of 3 pieces!!! Front piece, Back Left, and Back Right piece with a seam in the back connecting the two back pieces. It is super easy to call it a two piece though! :)

I just posted this the other day, but the Left Shoe is the Ravello "Wholecut" PTB, this guy is lined. The Middle Shoe is the Color 8 "Dover" de Leffot, this guy is unlined. The Right Shoe is the new Cigar "Dover" de Harrison's, this guy is lined. Hope that helps you to understand the pattern.
