Thanks zippy, should of thought of that... That pair jumped to $550 by march '03. What an incredible makeup though. Its remarkable how many styles Alden has produced over the years. I would say that even in the past 10 years, the selection has shifted more to barrie, ptb, chukka, lwb

Like these beauts.

I remember when these were available and I recall not ordering because I was not a saddle shoe guy - reminded of unpleasant memories of childhood when, for a few years, I had to wear either saddle shoes due to orthotic needs. Age has dulled the resonance, my taste has evolved to greatly liking NST's, and I now greatly wish I had gotten these and a host of the other make-ups AOC offered. I got a number, but not as many as I would like now. Live and learn and change. Quote:

Gents I have a question regarding fit on lasts.

I measure 8E (larger foot; smaller foot was a 7E

) on a Brannock, and seemed to be an 8E on TruBalance (tried on Indy's). However, the boot felt a little tight on my right instep. I have a two-part question:

Does the Barrie fit pretty similarly to the TruBalance? And if I size up to a 8.5E Barrie will I be okay for both feet/my right instep?

The tan moc toe shoes on the white soles aren't too far off from what some other makers are producing today (such as Red Wing). The "Indy shoe" models resoled on a white sole wouldn't look too far off.

Cigar LWB today. Got caught in a surprise rain shower today so these will need some Mac-love when I get home.
Light brown and olive tones on these hides starting to come through nicely.

Didn't you see the clouds today? I was even getting flood warning on my iPhone (never had that even when Sandy was en route). I played it safe and wore my C&J Pembrokes.

I'm an optimistic kinda guy. Clouds don't phase me.
