it's definitely better and the fit and comfort is a lot better too. the Amoks were okay for the price, but did feel and fit sorta cheapy in comparison.I've never handled Alden suede myself, but based on what I've read here, I bet you will be happy with the Aldens.

that sounds good! thanks

mostly the Amoks seemed cheapy in terms of the fit and finish overall. i didn't see any issues with the stitching or the welt although i much prefer the distinctive side stitching pattern of the Aldens.MH could you expand on cheapy? Lose stiching, poor welt integrity etc.
Anyone aware of any retailers with LWBs in colors other than color 8 or black? I've searched the most common places without success. I know they're rare and coveted.

the Amoks are a lower quality, cheaper made shoe than the Alden. they should be at half the price though.

I picked up a pair of seconds mega cheap, just wanted to know if there were any inheritant issues with construction or materials. Thanks
Those are nice. I have found there are 3 options with Leydon: TTS (9.5D), TTS plus one width (9.5E), up half size (10D). I understand some retailers only stock Leydons in E width - the thinking being that the Leydon E is like a D.
the one thing that seems to be a consistent complaint with the AE Amok is that they can tend to develop squeaking while walking.I picked up a pair of seconds mega cheap, just wanted to know if there were any inheritant issues with construction or materials. Thanks
