Hello friends. My trusty Indies are in need of new heels. The neocork soles still have loads of life left. Is there an authorized cobbler in NYC somewhere who can replace genuine Alden TruBalance heels? Or do I need to mail them to the factory and wait half a year? TIA

Was swapping out laces and got the dreaded ‘why do all your shoes look alike’ question from Mrs. Shawnc. She’s pretty understanding of this hobby so I when I get the question I truly try to respond in the spirit of pointing out the nuances that make each pair different. I honestly think this may have been the first time where I struggled to make the case………….



Cigar v 8, flat v storm, blah blah blah. These look practically the same even to me. Lowered my head and simply conceded the point……..

Come now..color difference is quite obvious 😅

Surely you've explained that #8 is common whereas anything in the rarer colours is almost an obligatory purchase 😅

But as Sazon mentioned..."out of sight, out if mind". My wife rarely sees more than what's on my feet. I have space for 9 pairs in the entryway shoe cabinet but she has no reason to go into my area of the shoe cabinet. Even then all but a couple recently worn pairs will be bagged. Same for my main wardrobe closet. No reason to go in there...and even if she did all she'd see are a bunch of shoe boxes...which she sure as heck isn't going to take the time to go through 😜
