Aldens stomping the ground in Florence!
Does anybody knows if there is a way to get the dark "spots" out of the creases? I think it's accumulated dirt with waxes and stuff so I know how to prevent it but I'd like to know how to get rid of those. I know saddle soaps and such are not recommended with shell... as of now i only used a damp cloth and rennovateur
Other than that the patina is just beautiful!

Fit is still not there. You can tell from the picture that I have no space in the heel cup but the heel slippage is still quite insane. I think it has to do with my low instep and the fact that the suede part on the inside of the heel cup is literally smooth due to wear. Will get myself some toungepads and heel grabbers. Even tho the heel slippage is there with every step 10kms a day in Florence were no problem as the Cordovan overall is like buttery smooth. No comparison to my new models. And they should be 20-30 years old
Let's hear more about that coat, sir...

It's vintage Burberry (presumeably from the 80s) that was made for a austrian shop, bought it second hand with moth holes that I had mended. The fabric is a nice herringbone sort of tweed but on the inside it says Burberrys British Saxony (whatever that is supposed to mean haha!)

It's very special--quality is even obvious just from the partial pic.

Thanks, I've been wearing the hell out of it for two years now and it doesn't seem to age. One detail I love are are these dark brown horn buttons that are so well selected, that you have to turn them on the other side to see that they're not plastic.

You look like the CAT'S ASS, bro. Killing it in Florence!

If this hadn’t been followed by this, I’d have sworn these were fighting words………

Thanks for the info! I’m thinking of getting a mock toe or tanker style boot before next winter. I love the look of the suede ones but the reverse chamois seems like it would hold up better in bad weather.
I’ve seen other retailers carry that leather. Post up pictures when you get em!

Hello friends. My trusty Indies are in need of new heels. The neocork soles still have loads of life left. Is there an authorized cobbler in NYC somewhere who can replace genuine Alden TruBalance heels? Or do I need to mail them to the factory and wait half a year? TIA
Hey Pep,
Try Aram. He can do that.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
