My first pair of Alden in 20 years, longwing tassel loafers from Brogue
last pair was too big and sold at a very good price. Even this pair fit
pretty great, it deepens the mystification of sizing in Alden shoes,
Thought US size was smaller than UK size, I was a UK7 and
was very skeptical about the suggestion by Colin for a US7 even US6.5
And adding to that, even this is an E width, but the length of the shoes
seems about the same as an UK7.

Colin has been a great addition to Brogue! He's been more than helpful in my many visits and very knowledgeable!

Nice to see you here in Alden Land - I think we’ve conversed on JMW - regarding Alden sizing compared to UK sizing. I agree with you and have found the same thing - I’m a 10.5 UK in every brand - but in Alden in some lasts I’m an 11 (van) and 10.5 in others (Barrie), The Barrie always fits - but I have van last pairs that are perfect and other same-sized van lasts that I’ve sent back because they’re too tight

I’ve got the same pair in black. Agonized over 8 or black. Such a cool make. Definitely one of my favorites. Congrats!

I'm not a convert 😆, Don't usually like Alden, But I have been eyeing the same pair from Leffot to Sherman brothers to Brick and mortar, Just the other day I finally pick up my courage and gave Colin an email about the sizing, at the same time the size was available, so just took the plunge🏊‍♂️

Snuff Suede LWBs with some goofy socks. Not the ideal shoe for 11 degree (-12c) weather this morning, but I don't have anything that is, so...

Hi all...wondering if anyone is familiar with an Alden wholecut or bal in black calf or black shell on the Barrie last. I know that Engineered Garments has one, but it's on Commando which won't work for me. I recognize I may be looking for something that doesn't exist, but thought I'd check. Thanks!

The only thing I'm seeing on the Alden Model Project that fits these specifications is Model 912 - Black Calfskin U-Throat Balmoral. Google is not finding the 912 for sale at any of the stores currently, although Ebay has a 11.5 C for sale at a good price. The pictures on the Alden Model Project show the plain "Alden New England" footbed liner, which suggests Alden DC or Alden Madison. I'm guessing Madison since they like their Balmorals, but it could be DC (or both). I'd suggest contacting these two stores and asking if they ever sold the 912, and if so, are they ever likely to do another run.

Hello friends. My trusty Indies are in need of new heels. The neocork soles still have loads of life left. Is there an authorized cobbler in NYC somewhere who can replace genuine Alden TruBalance heels? Or do I need to mail them to the factory and wait half a year? TIA

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
