My latest acquisition - dark brown suede LHS (6245F). I recently bought a pair of snuff suede LHS (6243F) and loved them so much I decided I needed a dark brown pair. My snuff pair is 8D and they fit well with some heel slip. They fit very well at first but stretched a bit. Decided to try out a half size down to 7.5D on the dark brown pair and I can already tell it’s a superior fit for me. I’m 8.5 Brannock, so it turns out that I have to size down a full size on the Van last. I know that’s not unheard of, but the conventional wisdom is to size down a half size from TTS on the Van last. Feet are weird.

How does Snuff Suede handle heavy rain? I walk to work and it's pretty common for the tips of my shoes to get constant rain. My reverse chamois indys hold up just fine in this condition due to how oily and neppy it is. But I was wondering if Snuff Suede also would, maybe it's best I go with CXL for this makeup.

I had a pair of unlined suede Chukka’s (essentially the same upper as these LHS). I applied waterproofing spray on day one and reapplied once or twice a year. Wore them on all kinds of weather and the suede looked almost new.

Even if they patina a bit, I guess you’ll be fine if you let the shoes dry in between uses.

Definitely not unheard of...that's how I take my LHS. Full size down from brannock cause of my flat feet and low instep. How's the toe box? My pinky toes are little tight, but not restricted.

Feels like it’s been a while since I’ve posted any pics but the MV of these Ravello TB Plain Toes was enough to get me off the sidelines.

Aram swapped the brass hardware and added integrated toe taps. Indoor and outdoor shots……

These have been sitting for close to a year. Nice to take them out for a spin.
Alway's feels odd to quote my own post but helpful to show the before/after comparison. I am a far bigger fan of my shells after creasing than before. Generally I wipe or polish my shells before their MV but for some reason, I didn’t do that with these. So I hit them with a dash of Collonil 1909 afterwards. Here is an ‘after’ pic……..

These will likely be my winter go-to’s this year.

Happy Friday-eve Gents. Have a great day!

I'm also on team flat feet + low instep. After some trial and error with shorter lengths I ultimately went back up to TTS length but down to a C width. The fit, at least on an unlined suede model, has been perfect.

What is a "go to" when you have a collection your size? You mean like a once a month type of thing? 😅😅😅

Ha. That’s both fair and funny (though my collection is likely about average for this site).

My Pelle Line navy boots arrived last night. It's good timing because I sold my older dark navy pair on the 379x last this week. I have to admit that I do like this pair more in terms of how it looks. There's more blue and a hint of green in the leather, although it doesn't show in these pictures. The Barrie last is not as perfect of a fit for me as the 379x, but it's a nicer last to look at. I've always felt like the Barrie is 1/4 size larger and not 1/2 size larger. I could also wear my normal size in the Barrie because of my high instep, but I think this size (1/2 down) will work out great. Just a little bit snug, but it will stretch out easily with the cxl leather. Heel fit is great though. I don't know what's the secret, but Alden (almost) always seems to choose good pieces of leather that avoid the large creases.

Guys, this is one of those questions/request for assistance that I feel a little silly having to ask but here goes. When posting pics to SF from my iphone, I used to be able to grab them from my photo library and post with no problems, ever. I’m no camera expert but this was nice because I could edit (generally limited to cropping and/or rotating) and then post. That all changed some time ago (maybe 6 months, maybe a year, can’t recall) when anytime I would post I’d get an SF error message indicating that the file was too large.

Anyone have any insights into what I can do to avoid this message? Maybe an iphone camera setting but for the life of me, I can’t find it. I am about to post a few (ok, more than a few) Alden’s and EG’s for sale and it would be so much more convenient if I could avoid the file too large error message.

As always, any help is greatly appreciated.

I'm having issues myself on the mobile site...I think these new scrolling ads might be the cause. Literally puts everything to a crawl when loading the pages and half the time the website freezes. Another issue is that the "privacy" page pops up every time I change the screen. I'll hit the site...privacy screen. I hit notifications...privacy screen again. I hit Aldden thread...privacy screen. go to previous or next page---privacy screen....gets F'ing annoying and I've been avoiding using the site on my mobile...which is a shame as that's how I usually share photos...I'm using a Samsung S21 Ultra and keep it "updated"..it's 3 years old by now but you'd think it could handle the ads and have the site save privacy preferences...:(
