A little thicker/stiffer than suede. Will soften a bit more as it breaks in.

I have Alden Humus suede captoe boots from Frans Boone waiting for me once I get home. Really looking forward to seeing them in real life!

I goofed. These boots were as far as I know solely (hah, pun) available at Citi shoes, which appears to have gone out of business. Any other retailers with a similar make up? Cap toe grain with commando sole.

Brick and Mortar carries the Lewis boot, which is brown regina grain with commando sole.

Soft, though slightly thick. Very comfortable out of the gate for me - essentially zero break-in
