Oh my......
Thank you Shawn. 2011 was a very good year for Ravello.

On a few of their preorders I've seen a message about requests to add additional widths being accepted by a stated date but I've definitely seen D and E width only too. Not sure if they bring in an odd width from a waiting list before listing a preorder on their site on the ones that say D/E only.

Leffot’s sizing policies seem to be on par with most other Alden retailers.

But for other brands they carry, like GG, EG, JL....impossible to get widths. Even to try on! Although I’ve never been to a trunk show there before.

Citishoes is (was?) the best place in the city to go to try on widths from various quality makers.

I've seen pre orders on their site only listing D in a range and E up to like 10.5; I never called to see if they'd do any size beyond what they offered there. Maybe they do, but I figured they'd show on the site.

In my experience, they will add additional widths other than D or E, but it is limited. I think they told me they can only order 3 different widths at a time? Something like that. Anyway, I preordered their natural cxl Indy the last time it was ordered in a C width via email. At the time, preordering a non-standard width required 100% payment up front.

Cool. I'll keep that in mind. The 3 width restriction is pretty par for the course with Alden orders

Been some talk about the grant lasted nst boots recently. I went into the city this morning and bought a pair. Great make up in my opinion.

These look great. Grant is my favorite last so I'm generally of the mindset to Grant last all the things. For us non-D width fellas, Sherman Brothers said they'll probably do another run in about a year or so since they just got these in.

There is an old video from ‘09ish when Mike from Epaulet toured the factory. Floyd Gilmore briefly discussed how the 405 became the Indy.

Paramount had selected a pair of boots for Harrison to wear but, due to foot problems, he insisted on wearing his Alden’s. No idea if a formal relationship ever took place.
I think I've seen that one - will re-watch. I'd heard the story of him switching to his personal pair, and seen other bits about how the studio patina'd additional pairs for that and future movies. I'd love to know if Alden ever made him a custom pair or if there was ever a direct connection/conversation/etc.

my understanding is that Ford purchased his pairs from Frederick's Shoes. I've not ever seen any info of a direct relationship with Alden though.
